Chapter 12

Upon hearing Wang Xiushan’s words, Elder Shi couldn't help but laugh and asked, "Is the prescription truly of such a high caliber? How does it compare to your own?"
"I am not his equal," Wang Xiushan replied.
"Hahaha! I never expected that you, known as the 'King of Divine Needles,' would actually admit to being inferior to someone else," Elder Shi laughed heartily.
"I am speaking the truth, old friend. To be able to draft a prescription like this shows an understanding of your body that has reached a level of microscopic precision. Furthermore, the grasp of the medication dosage is flawless, with almost no side effects. To call such a person a 'Divine Doctor' is hardly an exaggeration."
Medical science is, after all, a discipline dedicated to studying the human body. Clearly, the person who prescribed this for Elder Shi had reached an incredibly terrifying level of mastery in this field.
Elder Shi became even more interested in Chen Mo. He had previously investigated him: Chen Mo’s grandfather, Chen Jinkui, was a well-known practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, and Chen Mo’s parents had left Sijiu City for abroad, leaving him behind to work as a physician at the Rolling Mill.
All signs indicated that Chen Mo was an absolute medical genius. At only nineteen years old, it was practically heaven-defying. If someone like him were cultivated properly, his future achievements would be limitless. At this moment, Elder Shi did not feel that the issue of Chen Mo's family background was a concern at all.
"Old Wang, if I told you that the person who wrote this prescription is a young man under twenty, would you believe me?"
"How is that possible?" Wang Xiushan could hardly believe it.
Having immersed himself in traditional Chinese medicine for decades, he still felt he had much to learn. How could a young man not even twenty years old possess such medical skill? He wouldn't believe it even if his life depended on it.
"I am telling you the truth. The prescription that young comrade gave me is only for the first course of treatment. He will only give me the prescription for the second course after a month. I paid him one hundred yuan for this first course alone."
"What? He asked you for one hundred yuan? How dare he?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Xiushan was immediately incensed. To charge money for treating a high-ranking official—and one hundred yuan at that—no matter how skilled the person was, their character was clearly lacking.
Elder Shi waved his hand. "That’s quite a way to look at it. He treated my illness, and I paid him; isn't that perfectly reasonable?"
"This… but this…"
"There are no 'buts.' This young man is quite interesting. He said that a healer never begs for business; it is only others who beg him. Since I was the one who asked him for treatment, it is only natural that I pay him," Elder Shi said.
Wang Xiushan felt unconvinced. *This kid is truly shortsighted,* he thought. *If you had the ability to cure the leader’s illness, what a bright future you would have! Why focus on a mere hundred yuan?*
However, he did grow curious to meet this gifted young man. If the leader’s assessment were true, he would take it upon himself to guide him onto the right path later.
If Chen Mo knew what the old man was thinking, he would have undoubtedly spat in his face. *Who the hell do you think you are? I am the successor to the Medical Immortal, a future Medical Immortal myself—do I need to kiss up to anyone? You must be joking.*

At the Courtyard, Chen Mo stretched his body and went through a set of shadowboxing. After washing up and returning inside, he took some steamed buns, goat milk, and porridge from the Secret Realm Warehouse and headed to the middle courtyard to invite He Yushui over for breakfast.
As soon as he stepped out, he saw He Yushui skipping toward him. Since it was Sunday, they still had one day of holiday left.
Chen Mo planned to head to the Sub-district Office afterward to convert his property deeds into formal ownership certificates. Now that Director Wang’s life was in his hands, that old woman wouldn't dare throw any obstacles in his way. Once that was done, he planned to take He Yushui to Beihai Park for a boat ride.
He Yushui, for her part, seemed eager to cling to Chen Mo at every possible moment.
After eating and locking the door, Chen Mo took He Yushui on his bicycle to the Sub-district Office. He had her wait outside, and the moment he entered Director Wang’s office, the woman rushed to greet him with artificial warmth, pouring him tea and inquiring after his well-being.
"These are the property deeds for the three courtyards I own. I intend to process them into formal ownership certificates. That shouldn't be a problem, should it?" Chen Mo sat on the sofa and took a sip of tea.
"No problem, absolutely no problem! Since these are deeds passed down from your ancestors and are fully documented, we can have it processed for you immediately," Director Wang said quickly.
"Good. That’s good." Chen Mo set his cup on the table and added, "No one is going to force me to rent out my ancestral homes, right?"
Director Wang was startled by the question and quickly replied, "No, absolutely not! Our Sub-district Office exists to serve the people, and we will certainly protect the lawful private property of the citizens."
A smile curled the corner of Chen Mo’s lips. *Some people are just cheap; if you don't keep them in line, they won't behave.*
Back then, Chen Mo had told her to pay whatever she saw fit for her medical treatment. As soon as she was discharged, she had sent someone to deliver three hundred yuan to him that very evening. It had to be said that for this old woman to reach the position of Director at the Sub-district Office, she certainly had some capability.
Chen Mo nodded in satisfaction. Sure enough, it wasn't long before three brand-new property certificates, stamped with the official seal, were respectfully handed to him by Director Wang.
Director Wang was now terrified of offending Chen Mo; even if she offended her superiors, she might only lose her job, but offending Chen Mo could cost her her life.
Chen Mo tucked the deeds and new certificates into his jacket and slipped them into the Secret Realm Warehouse. Under Director Wang’s deferential gaze, he walked out of the office.
As he reached the doorway, he suddenly stopped, causing Director Wang to shudder.
Chen Mo turned around and said, "Right, I intend to renovate the house at Compound 95. I want to install a bathroom and add a fireplace. Your Sub-district Office should be able to contact contractors for this kind of work, right? Find someone for me."
"Yes, yes! Whenever you want to start the renovation, just let me know, and I will have it arranged," Director Wang promised eagerly.
"Let’s make it tomorrow. Have them arrive at Compound 95 tomorrow morning," Chen Mo said.
"Understood." Director Wang didn't dare refuse. Even if she felt bitter, she had no choice but to endure it; after all, her life was still in his hands.
When He Yushui saw Chen Mo emerge, she hurried over and asked, "Brother Chen Mo, did you get it all taken care of?"
"Yes, it’s all done. Let’s go, we’re heading to the park," Chen Mo said, playfully tapping her nose.
"Mm," He Yushui replied with a sweet smile.
They had only biked halfway when a girl’s voice called out, "Yushui!"
He Yushui turned toward the sound and realized it was her classmate, Yu Haitang.
Chen Mo also stopped the bicycle and looked in the direction of the voice, spotting a young girl in a pale blue dress. Her skin was slightly tanned, but she looked youthful and pretty.
"Haitang, what are you doing here?" He Yushui asked with a smile.
