It was almost eleven o'clock, so Fu Ying said goodbye to her older sister and went home to cook. When she got back, Little Black Charcoal was not on the ground floor; she wasn't sure if he was still in bed or had gone off to an internet café. Little Black Charcoal came back just before Mom Fu got off work. Fu Ying didn't ask where he had been. After eating with Mom Fu, Fu Ying and Fu Zhe left for their part-time job. This summer felt like it was going to be quite hot. Once the typhoon passed, temperatures climbed back up. There was no air conditioning in the workshop—there simply wasn't any—only electric fans whirring away incessantly.
