Chapter 5

In an instant, a young woman in her early twenties emerged from inside. She was dressed in luxurious clothing, looking every bit the heiress of a wealthy family. She was Bai Jinhai's granddaughter, Bai Yanran.
Bai Yanran asked politely, "Excuse me, sir, who are you?"
"Sir?" Wu Hao’s expression darkened. "Young lady, am I really that old?"
"Oh, I'm so sorry. Excuse me, brother, who are you?"
"I’m here to treat your grandfather."
"To treat him?" Upon hearing this, Bai Yanran immediately became excited. "Please, come in! Quickly, come in!"
Wu Hao was invited inside. Behind him, Zhang Zhongshan let out a cold snort and shook his head. "Hmph, that little brat really has some nerve. I’d like to see if he actually manages to get that five million."
Zhang Zhongshan sat to the side, waiting for Wu Hao to come out humiliated in a little while.
As Wu Hao and Bai Yanran walked into the villa's main hall, they were immediately struck by the glittering, opulent decor. At that moment, Bai Yanran’s father, Bai Junfeng, was sighing on the sofa, and her mother, Wang Qiuhe, was sighing right along with him.
"Mom, Dad, this brother says he can help treat Grandpa!"
"Really?" Bai Junfeng looked up at once, but his expression turned to one of surprise when he saw Wu Hao. "Young man, are you actually skilled in medicine?"
Wu Hao gave a brief introduction. "I am. I possess a unique medical technique passed down from my master, an old Taoist. I spent six years following him, learning a wealth of skills. If you trust me, just let me try."
"A Taoist physician?" Bai Junfeng and his wife exchanged a glance and decided it was worth a shot.
"All right, follow me."
Following Bai Junfeng to the second floor, Wu Hao entered the bedroom and immediately saw Bai Jinhai on the bed. The old man’s face was blackened and his lips were tinged with blue. At a single glance, Wu Hao saw a mass of black energy swirling around the old man’s body.
"Tch, piece of cake."
Wu Hao identified the root of the problem instantly. He turned and asked the Bai family to wait outside, then stepped into the room and closed the door behind him.
"Honey, do you really think it’ll work?" Wang Qiuhe asked, looking worried.
Bai Junfeng sighed. "We’ve reached this point; we have no choice but to try."
Bai Yanran added, "Mom, Dad, we’ve searched for so many famous doctors lately to no avail. I think we should give him a chance."
"Yes, Ranran is right."
The three waited outside for ten minutes. Suddenly, the bedroom door opened.
"Young man, how is it? How is my father?"
"Mr. Bai," Wu Hao said, "the head of the family has fully recovered."
Fully recovered? The three members of the Bai family were stunned.
"However, Mr. Bai wasn't actually suffering from an illness. He was poisoned."
"Poisoned?" A jolt of shock went through them. At the same moment, the old man’s voice drifted from the bedroom.
"Dad! Dad!" Bai Junfeng rushed into the bedroom. Sure enough, his father, who had been in a coma for a month, had opened his eyes.
Wu Hao waited outside to settle the bill. About five or six minutes later, the family emerged.
"Young man, may I ask your name?"
"My name is Wu."
"Master Wu, I never expected that someone as young as you would have such remarkable medical skills. But you said my father was poisoned—what exactly is going on?"
"What do you mean, what’s going on? I said he was poisoned, so he was poisoned. Furthermore, the person who poisoned him is a member of your own family."
No sooner had he finished speaking than another couple walked in. "Brother, brother, how is Dad? How is he?"
Wu Hao turned his head and his eyes lit up; he instantly had his answer. The couple who had just entered were Bai Junfeng’s younger brother and his wife.
After Bai Junfeng shared the good news, his brother immediately bowed to Wu Hao. "Thank you, Master! Thank you, Master!"
"Master Wu, you said this poisoning was the work of our own family?"
"That’s right," Wu Hao said, looking at the wife of Bai Junfeng’s brother. "She did it."
All eyes turned to her instantly!
"Ha, ha, ha! Master Wu, you really know how to joke. She’s our daughter-in-law, a member of the Bai family! How could she possibly poison my father?"
Wu Hao shook his head helplessly. He had recognized the culprit so quickly because he had used the Qimen Memory Technique his master had taught him. The Qimen Memory Technique allowed one to mentally perceive the past events of any location just by focusing their intent. Earlier, while in the bedroom, Wu Hao had seen that a month and a half ago, this woman had served the elder a bowl of wontons, and those wontons had been laced with a poison called "Hundred Flower Powder." It was colorless and odorless; even a tiny taste would cause a victim to lapse into a coma and slowly die.
"Forget it. If you don't believe me, then fine. Now, let’s settle the payment."
"Right, right!" Bai Junfeng pulled out a bank card. "Master Wu, what is your account number? I’ll transfer the fee to you right now."
Wu Hao didn't stand on ceremony and recited his account number. Less than a minute later, five million was deposited. He intended to offer a final warning, but decided against it, seeing as they clearly didn't believe him anyway.
Leaving the villa, Wu Hao was just about to depart when Zhang Zhongshan approached him. "So, did you fail? I told you, Old Master Bai has hit a wall this time—he’s beyond saving. You didn't want to listen!"
"What are you talking about?" Wu Hao replied. "What do you mean he’s beyond saving? I’ve already saved him."
"Hahaha, young man, are you joking? You saved the head of the Bai family? How could that be?"
"See for yourself!" Wu Hao showed him the notification from the bank. "Open your eyes and count—is that five million?"
Zhang Zhongshan, who had been laughing heartedly, turned blank after seeing the message. He rubbed his eyes, thinking he had misread it, but he finally realized this wasn't a dream—it was real.
"This... this..." Zhang Zhongshan looked at Wu Hao, stumbling over his words, his opinion of the young man completely transformed.
"Listen, big guy, if you don't have the skills, don't act like a pro. I'm leaving." Wu Hao put his phone away, patted Zhang Zhongshan on the arm, and walked off.
Meanwhile, inside the villa:
"This 'Master' is quite a character, actually claiming that Dad was poisoned by Liu Xiumei!" Bai Junfeng laughed.
"Brother, the Master is skilled, but we can't believe everything he says. Ever since Xiumei married into the family, she’s been a dedicated housewife, working hard without complaint. How could she possibly harm Dad?"
"Exactly, exactly! Let it go, it’s all in the past now!" Wang Qiuhe added with a wave of her hand.
"Xiumei? Xiumei?"
Liu Xiumei snapped back to reality. "Ah! Thank you for trusting me, brother and sister-in-law. That man was just spouting nonsense. How could I ever harm Dad?"
"We know, we know. You’re the best daughter-in-law our Bai family could have," Bai Junfeng reassured her.
"Thank you, thank you, brother!"
As Liu Xiumei spoke, she thought to herself, "It was only one step away. I didn't expect a Zhuge Liang to show up out of nowhere. You’re a lucky old man, aren't you?"
