The capital of the Philippines, Malala, was already gripped by panic. The Abyss Entrance was located just outside the city's outskirts, and videos of the Demon Race rushing out of the abyss to devour people everywhere were spreading rapidly online.
For some unknown reason, the Demon Race had temporarily retreated, taking a large number of people with them into the abyss.
A group of local professionals had risked their lives to enter the abyss to investigate, but only two managed to escape back. The Demon Race was already gathering and building a city at the entrance; it was believed that it would not be long before they launched a full-scale invasion and occupied Malala.
