In Mufeng's entire plan, the most dangerous part was the period after entering the city and before reaching the royal palace. This was the window most likely to draw Master Baiyue out for a deadly pursuit.
Once inside the royal palace, things would become much simpler, as Master Baiyue would naturally be dealt with by Empress Wu.
To reduce the probability of running into Master Baiyue to the absolute minimum, the duration from entering the city gate to reaching the palace had to be as fast as possible. As long as they could charge into the palace before Master Baiyue had time to react, everything else would be easy to handle.
