Beiming Zhi did not yet know that just as he was informing Jian Yi that news of a thorough investigation into the parasitic gu worms had not yet come from the clan, a team of elite disciples led by family elders from Ming Prefecture—where the Beiming family resided—had already boarded a seagoing vessel and was sailing toward Qing Prefecture. There were twenty-two people in this group, half of whom were elite family disciples and the other half ordinary disciples. Their common trait was that the family had discovered gu worms inside all of their bodies.
The Beiming patriarch and clan elders had discussed the matter and decided to bundle everyone up and send them directly to Beiming Zhi. First, this would allow Elder Jian to step in and eradicate the gu worms without alerting the person who planted them. Second, according to the messages Beiming Zhi had sent back, they seemed to have encountered some fortuitous events and intended to continue their experiential training out in the wider world for a while longer.
Since tending to one person or a whole group amounted to much of the same effort, they decided to let the newly appointed Elder Jian toil a little and take the clan disciples out for some practical seasoning, while also taking the opportunity to discuss how to resolve the rift with the Demon Clan.
