"Mom, this is Yulan, the person I’ve often mentioned to you—my girlfriend." Xi Mingzhou held Yulan’s hand; the sweat on his palms betrayed his nervousness. Yulan didn't understand why meeting a partner's parents and having a meal should be enough to cause such tension. She pulled her hand away, looked at Ms. Shen with a docile smile, and said, "Hello, Ms. Shen. I’m Yulan."
