Not a single trace of life remained in the entire laboratory building. Perhaps there had been some originally, but after being bewitched by the Stellaron and transformed into monsters, they might have been dealt with by drones when they tried to flee the building.
The trio slowly walked to the final room at the end of the corridor. The door was locked and would not budge. Stelle had no choice but to draw her bat, channeling some energy of the Path of Destruction into it, and smashed it down hard. Finally, she broke the door lock, which still held a tiny bit of electrical charge. With another poke of the bat, she completely shoved the lock out and forced the door open.
In an instant, the water on the floor outside rushed right inside. It turned out that the room had excellent sealing; when the entire building was flooded by the tsunami just moments before, very little water had managed to seep in. Now, the water that had not yet receded back into the ocean finally poured into this room the moment the door opened.
