Chapter 4

1,300 words7 minutes read

The two girls leaned in close together, eagerly browsing through the items.
"This bamboo dragonfly looks pretty interesting! You just put it on your head and you can fly, eh!"
"This Anywhere Door is pretty nice, you can teleport within ten thousand kilometers, though it's a bit pricey, costing a whole 100,000 Credits."
"This starry sky camera looks great, and it even comes in a pink edition. Let me see—built-in magic, infinite film, and it prints photos instantly! This is practically my dream camera!"
"This trash-can scratch card is kind of interesting, you can win items worth up to 500,000 Credits!"
The two girls chattered away, discussing the items back and forth.
Nearby, Ye Yun sipped his soda while quietly watching the two of them shop.
After more than ten minutes, the two girls finally put away their phones and finished choosing what they wanted to buy.
March 7th took out her 1,000 Credits and handed them to Ye Yun.
"Here, Ye Yun, I want to buy that starry sky camera!"
Hearing this, Ye Yun checked the price of the starry sky camera: exactly 1,000 Credits.
Ye Yun snapped his fingers, and a camera wrapped in a bubble appeared between the three of them.
March 7th looked closely.
"This is it! This is it! Here's your money, Ye Yun!"
Ye Yun pointed at the bubble.
"Just slap your Credits onto it. Once the amount is enough, you'll get it."
Hearing that, March 7th grabbed her Credits and smacked them against the bubble.
The Credits and the bubble vanished simultaneously, and the physical starry sky camera materialized in March 7th's hands.
As soon as she got the camera, March 7th started taking pictures impatiently.
"Whoa—the resolution is so clear! It feels even better than my own eyes!"
Ye Yun smiled.
"As long as you like it."
With that, Ye Yun looked at Caelus.
"What about you? What are you going to buy?"
Caelus held 2,000 Credits.
"I want the trash-can scratch cards! Give me two cans!"
Hearing this, Ye Yun sighed inwardly.
Figures. Back when he was copying down this item, he had a feeling Caelus would buy it.
To Caelus, this thing was a total special attack; she had zero resistance against it.
Ye Yun checked the price and summoned two bubbles.
The trash-can scratch cards cost 1,000 Credits each.
Without a second thought, Caelus grabbed 1,000 Credits in each hand and smacked them against the two bubbles.
*Thud!*
*Thud!*
Two heavy thuds echoed as objects landed on the ground. Caelus rushed eagerly over to the two glowing, bling-bling trash cans.
First, Caelus tapped the two trash cans with her hand, listening to the sounds coming from inside.
March 7th noticed what was going on, walked over, and took a look.
"Caelus, why did you buy these? Scratch cards never give you anything good."
Caelus patted her chest.
"Ordinary people definitely won't get anything good, but I'm different! Am I an ordinary person? Absolutely not, I am the future Galactic Bat-Man!"
March 7th was left speechless. What kind of nicknames did Caelus come up with for herself?
Galactic Bat-Man? Did she really have to be so eighth-grade syndrome?
At that moment, a voice rang out from nearby.
"Found you. Was it you who sold that coin to Caelus?"
The three of them looked toward the newcomer, and Caelus was slightly surprised.
"Herta? Why did you come here?"
Herta gave Caelus a casual glance.
"Naturally, I followed you here."
With that, Herta paid Caelus no more mind and instead looked at Ye Yun.
"Was it you who sold that coin?"
Ye Yun nodded and handed his phone to Herta.
"That's right, take a look for yourself. Everything listed on here is what I have for sale. If something you want isn't on here, just tell me the features of the item you're looking for. Here, as long as you have enough Credits, you can buy anything you want!"
Hearing this, Herta grew interested.
"Credits? What are those? How do you get them?"
Ye Yun said, "Stellar Jades. Right now, only Stellar Jades can be exchanged in this world—one Stellar Jade trades for 100 Credits."
Understanding dawned on Herta. She sent a message to Asta, telling her to send over some Stellar Jades.
Afterward, Herta took Ye Yun's phone and began browsing.
Caelus glanced at Herta, decided to ignore her, and went back to opening her cans!
Caelus rubbed her hands together and performed a little superstitious good-luck dance.
Herta sighed.
"Caelus, research shows that human luck has no connection whatsoever to these superstitious nonsense rituals."
Caelus turned her head away.
"You don't understand. With these things, they exist if you believe in them, and they don't if you don't."
Finished speaking, Caelus wrenched open one of the trash cans.
The next second, a dazzling light burst forth from the trash can, so blinding that everyone present had to close their eyes.
Even Herta's puppet did, seeing as it was a simulated human puppet built by Herta herself.
Caelus forced her eyes open to peer inside the trash can, her face beaming with excitement.
Legendary Golden Drop!!!!!
When the light faded and the trash can vanished, a can of surströmming appeared in its place.
Caelus curiously picked up the canned herring and shook it.
"What is this?"
March 7th was curious too.
"Could it be fish feed? I see a picture of a fish drawn on it."
Herta rolled her eyes at the two girls.
"An idiot is an idiot. This is canned fish, an old thing from many years ago. It's food."
Neither March 7th nor Caelus had ever eaten canned food, so naturally they didn't recognize the contraption.
Caelus was a memory-impaired Stellaron carrier, and March 7th was a member of the Express crew—and the Express had Pom-Pom as their master chef. Canned food? Non-existent, alright?
Hearing this, Caelus made to open the can to taste it.
Seeing this, Ye Yun quickly stopped her.
"Stop!"
Caelus looked confused.
"Why? Isn't this food? I'm kind of hungry right now, I just want to taste it."
Ye Yun thought for a moment and chose to tell the truth, making Caelus understand the gravity of the situation.
"This is indeed food, but... well, the taste... um, it's best not to open it anywhere near other people."
Caelus understood instantly.
Ah... so... this stuff couldn't be eaten...
Suddenly, Caelus's eyes lit up as an idea flashed through her mind.
She put it away and looked at the second trash can.
March 7th put her hands on her hips.
"Caelus, why don't you return this trash can? You're not going to get anything good out of this one either, and it's so expensive—1,000 Credits a pop."
Caelus shook her head and, without another word, ripped open the can!
After another flash of golden light, the trash can vanished, and a pair of handguns appeared in its place.
Seeing this, Caelus looked disappointed. She had spent 2,000 Credits just to pull these two things? The canned herring might actually be useful in certain situations.
As for these two pistols, forget it. They weren't of much use.
At that moment, Ye Yun looked at Caelus as if he had seen a ghost.
"What kind of luck is that?!"
Caelus spread her hands helplessly.
"Yeah, my luck really is terrible."
Ye Yun said, "No! Do you have any idea what you just pulled?"
Caelus shook her head. Judging by Ye Yun's reaction, did this pair of pistols have some kind of reputation?
"Ye Yun, did I actually pull something good?"
Ye Yun didn't beat around the bush.
"Let me put it this way: if you bought this item from me, it would cost 200,000 Credits. This pair of pistols has an extremely imposing name: Divine Key—Judgement of Shamash!"
