This lightning came from one of Zhang Xianzong's few life-saving magical treasures, known as the Five-Link Lightning Rings. Right now, that gadget was worn around his wrist; with just a slight flick of the wrist and a mental trigger to activate the artifact's runes, the lightning would strike out.
However, before the lightning even struck, the Five-Link Lightning Rings had already taken effect. Reaching forward across the arena, it landed on Gu Xinchao in a manner similar to a binding spell.
