As the submarine continued its descent, Sun Lian remained wary of Shang Yu. He restricted Shang Yu’s movement to a tiny area, with two men standing guard over him at all times. Deep in the ocean, the vessel kept sinking until it reached the edge of a vast trench. The density of marine life near the chasm spiked, nearly blocking their path forward. Sun Lian pressed a series of buttons, emitting a specific sonic frequency; as if they understood, the sea creatures parted, one by one, carving out a path for them to pass. Within the range of Shang Yu’s senses, these creatures drifted on either side, as if watching them descend. They had barely entered the trench when a powerful suction pulled the submarine downward. A sudden sensation of weightlessness washed over him; clutching the stone in his bag, he tumbled forward. The weightlessness lasted for half a minute before a violent rotation set in, the centrifugal force so intense it felt as if one’s very soul might be torn away.
