"Watch closely, I'm only going to teach this once!"
As a model college student of the new era, Mofeng was enduring the scorching summer heat during military training on the sports ground.
Listening to his roommate complaining about the damn weather and the damn instructor, Mofeng gave him a mysterious look and said, "..."
Perhaps the instructor heard the roommate's inner complaints, because he suddenly ordered everyone to disperse and take a break on the spot.
Mofeng went with a few of his sworn brothers to find some shade under a tree. They kept chattering and complaining about why this dog-ass weather wouldn't rain, when they suddenly heard Mofeng's words. They all froze for a second, then looked at him as if he were an idiot.
"What?"
"What are you talking about?"
Mofeng met his sworn brothers' wise gazes and offered a disdainful chuckle. "Didn't you guys want it to rain?"
"Watch closely and see how your dad summons the wind and calls the rain."
"Pfft!"
"Did you get heatstroke, you little punk? If it's that bad, let's take you to the infirmary. Look how fried this kid is—he's starting to talk nonsense."
Hearing Mofeng's words, his sworn brothers turned rebellious and looked at him with utter disdain.
"Watch closely, I'm only going to teach you this once!"
With that, Mofeng stood up and patted the dust off his clothes.
Then, he stood exceptionally straight, closed his eyes to concentrate, formed a sword-finger gesture with his right hand held in front of his chest, and kept his left hand behind his back. He put on the posture of an otherworldly expert—it was actually somewhat convincing.
"Wind!"
"Rain!"
"Thunder!"
"Lightning!"
"Break!"
"Bring the lightning!"
As Mofeng spoke, he pointed his sword-finger at the sky, changing his incantation gestures with every single word he uttered! His dramatic movements instantly drew everyone's attention.
The moment Mofeng's shout of "Break" echoed, his sworn brothers sitting nearby burst out laughing. "You're a lunatic, absolutely out of your mind."
"Been watching too many short videos?"
*Boom!* A deafening roar cracked across the edge of the sky.
Before Mofeng's good sons could even finish speaking, right on cue with his command, the lightning really came.
"What the fuck?!"
"Holy shit! Holy shit! Adoptive father, teach me!"
As this bolt of lightning out of a clear blue sky struck, the eyes of Mofeng's good sons lit up like lightbulbs.
They were just about to jump up and rush toward Mofeng when—*rumble*.
Another deafening explosion echoed, and a dazzling blue bolt of lightning as thick as an arm slammed straight down onto the top of Mofeng's head.
"Holy shit, the lunatic!"
Seeing Mofeng get struck by lightning, the crowd turned pale with shock.
Mofeng, meanwhile, lost consciousness the instant he was hit.
Before blacking out, a thought flashed through Mofeng's mind: *Don't act cool, don't act cool, acting cool really does get you struck by lightning.*
After the bolt struck Mofeng out of nowhere, his entire body turned charred black, his hair stood straight up on end, and smoke billowed from the top of his head.
With a loud *thump*, Mofeng's body collapsed onto the ground, his life or death unknown.
His good sons wanted to rush forward and drag him to the hospital, but the moment they stood up, more and more bolts of lightning continually battered Mofeng's body.
With each thunderbolt that crashed down, Mofeng's fallen body convulsed a little more.
It wasn't until a full nine bolts of lightning had smashed into him that the thunder targeting Mofeng finally seemed to vanish.
Everyone stared at the sight, dumbfounded.
"Has the lunatic turned into a lightning rod? That thunder's acting like it has eyes and is determined to kill him."
"He's not gonna die, right?"
"Is he going to be okay? He's literally smoking! You tell me if he's okay!"
"What kind of heaven-defying atrocity did the lunatic commit, or how many oaths did he break to get struck like this?"
*Rumble!*
Just as everyone was chattering amongst themselves, the previously clear, cloudless sky instantly became blanketed in thick, dark clouds.
Accompanied by a heaven-shaking roar, a blood-red bolt of lightning plunged from the sky and struck Mofeng once again.
The moment this final thunderbolt landed, Mofeng's already charred corpse vanished into thin air.
When Mofeng finally regained consciousness, the very first thing that flashed through his mind was the memory of trying to act cool by copying a short video's method for summoning lightning.
Not only did it actually summon the lightning, but the lightning had proceeded to strike him dead. *Seriously, don't act cool, acting cool gets you struck by lightning.*
Just as Mofeng was wondering about the state of his injuries, a voice suddenly rang in his mind.
"Sacrifice System loaded successfully!"
"Sacrifice System activated!"
Hearing this voice, Mofeng's eyes snapped open, filled with pleasant surprise. "Holy crap! Is this what they call surviving a disaster and reaping the blessings?"
"With a system attached to me, isn't this the rhythm of taking off?!"
Hearing the system's voice echoing in his head, Mofeng was overcome with wild joy.
However, the moment he tried to speak aloud, it came out as a baby's cry.
???
Hearing the wailing coming from his own mouth, Mofeng opened his eyes to see tiny, tender hands waving in front of him, and then looked down to check his prized possession.
"Holy shit! Where did it go?!"
"Where's my big treasure? How did it turn into a tiny little bean?"
Unfortunately, when he screamed these words, all that came out was more wailing.
"Hoo..."
Mofeng took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
His brain began spinning at top speed, and within seconds, he had sorted out the situation.
He had been struck by lightning while trying to show off, then reincarnated, accidentally acquiring this Sacrifice System into the bargain, and reborn as an infant.
He looked at the dense forest surrounding him—even a random tree here was several times larger than the trees on Blue Star.
The surrounding scenery, the fresh air...
It seemed this world was definitely a world of cultivation, a paradise for cultivators.
By then, he was already fantasizing about trampling the Great Emperor underfoot and tearing apart the Heavenly Dao with his bare hands, before Mofeng burst into tears.
In this dense forest, not a single living person was in sight; he was all alone out here.
What on earth could an infant do?
If a wild beast showed up, wouldn't he be booked for a return trip to the underworld? Even if—even if he didn't encounter any beasts or danger, as an infant, if some kind-hearted big sister didn't pick him up, he'd be completely done for, lying flat in a coffin, literally dying of hunger.
With that thought, Mofeng began checking the Sacrifice System that had appeared in his mind.
Even if you've never eaten pork, you've seen a pig run, right? He could only hope to see whether this Sacrifice System in his head could save him.
If this freakin' system couldn't keep him alive, no matter how awesome it was, it wouldn't be as useful to him right now as a sip of warm milk.
After all, as a newborn baby, he was already feeling the pangs of hunger.
If you're going to reincarnate someone, couldn't you at least make him a teenager?
At the very least, he'd have some self-reliance then.
Instead, the system dropped him straight into the role of an unloved, unwanted, abandoned little pitiful wretch.
What could an infant do? He might as well have gone all the way and spawned right back inside his mother's womb!
At least then he wouldn't have to worry about his little life.
