[Actually, Junbao never experienced miraculous escapes from danger or repeated extraordinary encounters; virtually all the hardships he faced in this story were caused by Tianbao. Living peacefully in the Shaolin Temple, he was dragged into fleeing the sect simply to help Tianbao. The righteous folks at Buddha's Smile House were friends he and Tianbao met together, yet Tianbao exploited Junbao's trust for his own social climbing, ultimately betraying those righteous people.
This left Junbao ostracized by everyone, wracked with guilt over the sacrificed friends, until he finally chose to rescue Qiuxue alone. After saving her, triggered by the betrayal of his sworn brother and severe injuries, he even lost his mind. As mentioned before, those miraculous escapes did happen—brought upon him time and again by his good brother Tianbao—and his final extraordinary encounter was merely comprehending Tai Chi after going mad.
Even if one credits the scroll left behind by Master when they parted ways, the problem is that this scroll was given to Tianbao by Master. Why, then, did Tianbao fail to gain any enlightenment from it? Did he fail to understand it, or did he never even look at it at all?]
