At the border between Dali and Great Sui lay two small nations: the Thousand Ravines Kingdom and the Yellow Court Kingdom. The Thousand Ravines Kingdom was a rugged, barren place of many mountains, devoid of any prominent cultivation families or wealthy clans. The Yellow Court Kingdom was different. It was a vassal state of Great Sui, meaning that if Dali wished to march its armies southward, it had to breach the gateway of the Yellow Court Kingdom.
