Chapter 2

The night in Nancheng is much warmer than it is at the Qinglan Mountain Taoist Temple.
However, Yun Yao’s heart at this moment is ice cold!
First, she has married a fool!
Second, she cannot move! Her spells won't work either!
Third, this fool is currently pawing at her immobile body!
Su Yuchen propped his head on one hand, tracing the contours of Yun Yao’s brow and eyes with his elegant fingers.
In the dim light, his eyes were full of intrigue.
"Good wife, your face is truly beautiful. But tell me, why can't you move?"
Deep down, Yun Yao was already cursing Su Yuchen’s entire family!
"Then..." Su Yuchen suddenly leaned in close, his lips only a finger’s width from hers, "I suppose I shall have to consummate our marriage!"
With that, he pulled a dagger from under the pillow, his voice taking on a bizarre tone.
"I like cutting beautiful things into little pieces best of all."
His warm breath washed over Yun Yao’s face, and her heart sank to the bottom of the abyss.
No way, no way!
Is this fool a psychopath?
Su Yuchen didn't care what she was thinking; he had already used the dagger to hook the zipper of her clothing.
The sound of the zipper opening threatened to pierce Yun Yao’s eardrums as her soul struggled with all its might.
"Good wife, are you ready? I’m going to start now."
The blade of the dagger was already pressing against Yun Yao’s heart.
Perhaps the stinging pain of her skin being nicked awakened this long-dormant body.
A pale hand shot out and clamped onto Su Yuchen’s wrist.
Immediately following, a hoarse voice rang out.
"Get lost!"
Su Yuchen looked up and met Yun Yao’s sharp, menacing gaze.
He did not seem surprised; a flash of coldness crossed his eyes before his face shifted back to that dull, vacant expression.
"I'm going to tell Grandpa! My wife can move!"
He tossed the dagger aside, easily broke free of Yun Yao’s grip, and ran off, acting like a madman.
Once silence returned to the room, Yun Yao’s mood slowly began to settle.
She didn't know how long she had lived in this world and had long since prided herself on having a heart as still as stagnant water, yet today, she had been riled up time and again by this man!
Yun Yao glanced at the dagger left on the bed, then turned her gaze to the tiny wound on her chest.
That was close!
The fool had no sense of restraint; if he had truly destroyed this body, she would have had to slip back into a deep slumber.
Feeling annoyed, Yun Yao said in a cold voice:
"If your lingering consciousness still refuses to dissipate, I shall simply switch to another body, but there will be no one left to avenge your grievances."
It was because of this lingering consciousness acting up today that her soul power had been restricted, leaving her so vulnerable!
After she spoke, she felt her body become significantly lighter.
Heh, at least it knows when to step aside!
Yun Yao raised her hand, and a wisp of white spiritual energy instantly rose from her fingertips.
Her Dharma power had returned.
However, the moment Yun Yao channeled her power, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled outside the window.
Yun Yao: "..." Here we go again.
She was merely testing if her spells still worked, and this wretched Heavenly Dao was already starting to warn her!
Yun Yao glared right back.
Heavenly Dao: "..." Can't afford to mess with her!
Within moments, the dark clouds outside dispersed, and tranquility returned.
Yun Yao now had complete control of this new body. She sat in front of the mirror and examined it carefully.
The features were delicate, but due to long-term malnutrition, her face was somewhat sunken.
Her body was nothing but skin and bones, like a walking "skeleton frame."
She was a beauty, certainly, but her physical condition was abysmal—a single finger from anyone could topple her.
This wouldn't do!
She needed to replenish her nutrition quickly; she’d start by eating a full meal!
Thinking this, Yun Yao sauntered out of the room.
Meanwhile, in the study, Su Yuchen leaned back in his chair, rubbing his brow with irritation.
"Didn't you say it was foolproof? How did the people sent by the old family estate find an opening?"
His assistant, Chen Dong, was in disbelief.
"That’s impossible! I personally watched the hospital nurses put Yun Yao into the car. There wasn't a single abnormality on the way here!"
"I’m certain that the person in your room is the vegetative daughter of the Yun Family!"
There was no trace of foolishness on Su Yuchen’s face anymore; his expression was terrifying.
"I felt something was off during the ceremony, so I tested her a little."
"A vegetative patient who should die the moment the tube is pulled—could she really grab my hand and tell me to get lost?"
"Chen Dong, you have been far too negligent."
Chen Dong couldn't help but shudder, speaking with a guilty conscience.
"It’s not... it’s not impossible for a vegetative patient to wake up."
"Ha." Su Yuchen let out a dry, angry laugh. He stood up and looked at Chen Dong. "If she really is a medical miracle, then she is already beyond my control."
"So, make her leave."
Chen Dong lowered his head further.
"Yes! I will go arrange it right away!"
Just then, Mother Wang, the housekeeper, knocked hurriedly on the study door.
"Assistant Chen, downstairs..."
Before Mother Wang could finish, the door was pushed open, and Su Yuchen and Chen Dong walked toward the stairs.
The living room was a scene of chaos.
Vegetables were scattered all over the floor, wine bottles rolled about, and pots and pans were still flying out from the kitchen.
Su Yuchen looked at a tomato that rolled to his feet, then looked at Yun Yao, who had buried half her body inside the refrigerator as she rummaged through it. His face darkened instantly.
Seeing Su Yuchen’s expression, Chen Dong hurriedly stepped forward.
"Young Madam, you..."
Yun Yao pulled herself out of the fridge, holding a green onion.
"What?"
The moment Chen Dong met Yun Yao’s eyes, he was genuinely shocked.
Bright, lively eyes, a sharp tone—she was a living, breathing person!
Yun Yao had truly recovered!
"Yo... Young Madam, what... what are you doing?"
Yun Yao glanced at Chen Dong and shoved the green onion into his hand.
"Why isn't there any good food in your cabinets?"
Over the years, Luohong had provided her with plenty of delicacies and amusements, spoiling her palate!
But this fool’s house had nothing but raw ingredients!
It was infuriating!
Before Chen Dong could react, Yun Yao’s gaze swept over to Su Yuchen, who was standing behind him.
Heh, this fool is here too?
Suddenly, she wasn't hungry anymore!
Daring to hurt her?
She wouldn't be her ancestors' descendant if she didn't get revenge for this!
Yun Yao marched angrily toward Su Yuchen.
"Fool, what are you looking at? Keep staring and I’ll gouge your eyes out."
Yun Yao said it, and she did it—she poked two fingers directly into Su Yuchen’s eyelids.
Su Yuchen clenched the hands at his sides, and the temperature in the room plummeted.
Everyone present stood on guard, looking at each other, not knowing what to do.
Although they all knew the young master had only married the vegetative patient to fob off the people at the old family estate, now that she was no longer vegetative and was still their nominal Young Madam, who dared to offend her?
Su Yuchen’s composure was on the verge of shattering. He gritted his teeth and spoke.
"Yun Yao."
Yun Yao pressed her fingers down with more force.
"Why are you calling your ancestor?"
Su Yuchen truly felt as if his eyeballs were about to be gouged out by Yun Yao. Having never suffered such humiliation in his life, he wanted to kill the person standing before him!
