One hundred pigs! That was a massive sum of money. Zhang Ting was counting on selling them for a good price to stage a brilliant comeback. If they all died from illness, it would be a catastrophe.
When Zhang Ting and Zhao Dachuan arrived at the pigsty, they found all the pigs lying on the ground, their bodies convulsing and white foam bubbling from their mouths. It was a truly shocking sight.
Zhang Ting was frantic. Ignoring the need to change her clothes, she rushed over to examine the situation. Zhao Dachuan was about to follow when he noticed Zhu Dapang, who had tagged along, watching the scene with a sneer. Zhao Dachuan immediately realized that Zhu Dapang was behind this. He had previously assumed Zhu Dapang was a benefactor to Zhang Ting, which was why he had treated him with such courtesy and even urged reconciliation. Now, it was clear that Zhu Dapang was resorting to despicable tactics to get his hands on Zhang Ting.
Instantly, Zhao Dachuan’s temper flared, and he prepared to give Zhu Dapang a beating. However, hearing Zhang Ting’s tearful voice made him pause; he prioritized helping her resolve the "illness" first.
"Wooo... my pigs! If these pigs die, I'll be in so much debt. I’ll go bankrupt! What am I supposed to do!? Wooo..." Zhang Ting was so desperate she began to weep, having exhausted every nursing method she knew.
"Boss, what should we do? The veterinarian won't be here for half a day, and the pigs can’t last that long!" one of Zhang Ting’s pig feed handlers said, panic-stricken.
"Let me look!"
At that moment, Zhao Dachuan stepped forward.
"Silly Dachuan!? Don't you mess around!"
"Exactly! How could you know anything about treating pigs!? Stop causing trouble and go play somewhere else!"
Zhao Dachuan’s reputation as the village fool was well-known. Naturally, the employees were not about to let him interfere.
Ignoring them, Zhao Dachuan looked at Zhang Ting and said, "Sister Ting, if you let me treat them, there might still be a glimmer of hope. If you stop me, I have nothing more to say. I promise you, I will cure them! Have you forgotten that I’m the only person in this village to have attended the Qingbei University School of Medicine?"
Zhao Dachuan genuinely wanted to help Zhang Ting. He added the detail about being a top-tier student from a premier national medical school. Zhang Ting was already at her wits' end, and having always held a fondness for Zhao Dachuan, she nodded and said, "Alright! Let Zhao Dachuan try."
"Haha... Zhang Ting! You must be insane to let a fool treat your pigs! If he can cure them, I’ll eat the pig manure in this pen!" Zhao Dachuan’s attempt to treat the pigs amused Zhu Dapang so much that he momentarily forgot about the power of Zhao Dachuan’s fists.
"That’s right, Boss! If he messes things up, it might be too late even when the vet gets here." The pig feed handlers also felt that Zhao Dachuan was unreliable.
Zhang Ting was nervous, but seeing the intense focus on Zhao Dachuan’s face, she felt a strange, inexplicable certainty that he could do it. Ignoring the others, she watched him nervously as he observed the sick pigs.
After inspecting them, a flash of golden light crossed Zhao Dachuan’s eyes. Enhanced by this light, he discovered he possessed the ability to see through objects, allowing him to clearly view the internal organs of the sick pigs.
"How is it? What should we do? Is there a way to cure them!?" Zhang Ting asked anxiously.
"Yes! It’s not difficult. You two, come over and help. First, tie up this pig's four legs," Zhao Dachuan commanded the two handlers.
"Why should we listen to you?" one of the handlers grumbled.
"Listen to Zhao Dachuan!" Zhang Ting ordered.
"I... fine!!" Since Zhang Ting was the one providing their livelihood, the handlers had no choice but to comply.
Before long, a pig was bound, and Zhao Dachuan retrieved a length of plastic hose. He was quite rough; he shoved one end of the hose directly into the pig’s mouth. Then, he turned on a water tap, and a rapid stream of water rushed through. The sick pig struggled violently, trying to shake the hose loose, but Zhao Dachuan’s grip was incredibly strong; he held the pig’s mouth shut, forcing large gulps of water down its throat.
The scene stunned everyone. Zhu Dapang and his cohorts laughed so hard they nearly doubled over, continuing their mockery:
"Zhang Ting! You’re actually listening to a fool!?"
"Haha... is this his medical treatment? Just pumping them with water? Isn't that going to kill them!?"
"I’m dying of laughter! My stomach hurts!"
The two handlers also couldn't help themselves, covering their mouths and snickering. Zhang Ting’s face turned ghastly, but she steeled herself, deciding to watch a little longer. It was just one pig, after all. If it truly didn't work, she would stop Zhao Dachuan after this one.
"Too noisy! Shut up, all of you! Do you want a beating!?" Zhao Dachuan barked at Zhu Dapang, enraged by his constant blabbering.
Zhu Dapang’s face turned pale; recalling how Zhao Dachuan had knocked down two strong men with just two punches, he felt a shiver run down his spine and dared not speak loudly again. He whispered to Zhang Ting instead, "Zhang Ting, you’ve lost a hundred pigs! You’re looking at a loss of over a hundred thousand. The only way out is to become my wife; no one in this village would dare marry someone with that much debt!"
Zhang Ting’s expression shifted, and she glared at Zhu Dapang. "My pigs aren't dead yet! Keep dreaming, you toad!"
"You!... I’ll be waiting to see the joke you’ve made of yourselves!!" Knowing the potency of the 'slimming powder,' Zhu Dapang watched Zhao Dachuan’s antics with a cold sneer. To him, Zhao Dachuan was just wasting his time.
A few minutes later—
The sick pig’s belly was distended like a balloon, filled to the brim. Its face had turned a terrifying, deathly pale, and it grew even more listless. This method seemed destined to finish the poor pig off.
"What kind of nonsense are you pulling!?"
Just as Zhao Dachuan was about to proceed to the next step, an angry voice rang out. Chen San, a middle-aged veterinarian wearing a white coat and carrying a medical kit, walked in quickly. Seeing the pig stretched out like a ball, Chen San felt a pang of agony. As a vet, he was filled with compassion for animals and could not bear to see the sick pig suffer such "torture."
"Get away from there! Let me look!" Chen San ordered.
"Yes, yes... since Uncle Chen San the vet is here, don't let Zhao Dachuan mess things up anymore, Boss!" The handler didn't trust Zhao Dachuan at all.
Zhang Ting was in a difficult position and had to ask Zhao Dachuan, "Zhao Dachuan! Are you really sure about this!?"
Zhao Dachuan nodded. Upon seeing the vet’s kit, his eyes brightened, and without a word, he snatched the box from Chen San.
Chen San was stunned, his eyes widening in shock. He yelled, "Why did you grab my kit!?"
Zhu Dapang laughed. "He’s a fool! Isn't it normal for him to grab your things? Don't you know who Zhao Dachuan is?"
"What!? He’s a fool!? Boss Zhang! You let a fool treat your sick pigs?" Chen San’s head spun; he couldn't wrap his mind around it. He didn't know if he was going crazy or if the world had gone mad.
Zhang Ting’s face burned with embarrassment, but she didn't respond to Chen San’s questioning. She wanted to trust the former Qingbei medical student, Zhao Dachuan, just this once. Perhaps, Zhao Dachuan would give them all a surprise?
