Early spring sunlight streamed through the window, carrying a gentle breeze that made the pink curtains sway. The chirping of birds, the sound of dripping water, and even the wind whistling through the alleyways were crystal clear. On the bed, a flash of red suddenly stirred, then grew still again as if nothing had happened. A moment later, she bolted upright, eyes wide, looking as though she had received the shock of a lifetime. She whipped her head toward the wall. The clock showed it was already ten-thirty in the morning.
