"Captain Kakashi, I'll go submit the mission report. Since today is your birthday, you should head back early," Tenzou (let's just call him that) said softly. He had always been this exhausted; on a day as important as his eighteenth birthday, he should at least take a little rest. It was almost as if he was using missions to numb himself—living might just be a habit by now. Actually, he didn't even know how to describe it. He was just like his past self, lacking direction and devoid of light.
Kakashi hadn't expected Tenzou to say such things to him. He nodded, put his things away in the cabinet, and turned to leave. "I'll leave it to you, then."
Out on the street, Kakashi walked alone, simply walking without the slightest idea of what he wanted to do. He was all alone, and had always been all alone. When he had what he possessed before, he didn't cherish it; only after losing it did he feel regret, and he had been regretting it ever since.
