Chapter 10

1,510 words8 minutes read

Wang Pu, sitting in the chair, showed no grief or anger upon seeing his son dead. He did not even look at the body, but instead dragged his elderly frame and ran in the opposite direction.
"Are you two really father and son?"
Qin Shuli caught up in a few strides and snapped Wang Pu's neck, effectively cutting off the Wang family's lineage.
Looking at the corpse on the ground, he then walked out the door to survey the Wang family courtyard, and slapped his forehead.
Damn it, that was rash! He hadn't even asked where the Wang family kept their money.
"Clap, clap, clap...!"
A tall figure walked around the corner of the covered walkway, stopped in the middle of the courtyard, and looked at Qin Shuli with a smile.
"Young brother has quite the skills! It's making my hands itch."
Guards up, Qin Shuli tightened his grip on his knife and asked in a low voice, "Who are you?"
Damn it, this was his first time committing murder and robbery, and his lack of experience had let a martial arts expert slip past his notice. Fortunately, his face was covered; even if things went wrong, no one would be able to track him down.
"Don't misunderstand, I'm just an ordinary gate guard for the Wang family!"
"A guard? And you just stood by and watched the Wang family die?" This answer left Qin Shuli puzzled.
"Just like you, I also wanted a cut of their money. There are just the two of us here. How about we split it down the middle?"
The tall man kept himself hidden in the shadows, his silhouette exuding greed.
Qin Shuli assessed his own strength. He drank the spiritual spring every day, and combined with his automatically running training techniques, he could already lift six hundred catties.
Coupled with the combat skills imparted by his training, he didn't believe the man before him was his match.
Therefore, Qin Shuli clenched his fist and slowly spat out three words: "I want it all!"
The expression of the tall man in the shadows flickered. Had the short fellow opposite him not made a move first, he would have struck tonight anyway.
Not only had the guy stolen his catch, but he wasn't even leaving him a crumb. This was truly unbearable!
However, as the old saying goes, women, old men, and children in the martial world are all dangerous characters not to be provoked unless necessary.
The tall man didn't want to pick a fight, but the other party's appetite was simply too big, and his own hands weren't clean either!
Under the bright moonlight, Qin Shuli saw a flash as the man drew a dagger and stepped out of the shadows.
"Kid, we're both in this for the money. The rules of the underworld dictate a fifty-fifty split upon meeting. You're ignoring the code!"
Looking at the tall man opposite him and his single-handed knife stance, Qin Shuli suddenly smiled. "Then let me talk to you about the code. We haven't found the Wang family's wealth yet. How about we wait until we find it?"
The tall man froze; he hadn't considered that problem. But...
"I'll take care of you first!"
Without waiting for a reply, the tall man charged directly at Qin Shuli. When he reached close range, he suddenly dropped low and swept his thick legs outward.
A fierce glint flashed in Qin Shuli's eyes. Pushing off hard with his right foot, his entire body lunged forward like a coiled spring.
At the same time, the knife in his hand flew out of his grasp. The tall man's vision blurred as he scrambled backward in a desperate attempt to dodge the flying blade.
Just as he evaded the incoming knife, Qin Shuli's fist was right in front of his eyes.
"Bang!" A punch landed squarely on the nose, and the six-hundred-catty force of the single blow directly smashed a crater into the tall man's face.
The tall man fell straight down to the ground, dead.
To verify his suspicion, Qin Shuli yanked down the tall man's trousers, and sure enough, underneath was a traditional loincloth.
It didn't make sense for a Japanese devil to grow this tall!
Qin Shuli didn't dwell on the issue. The priority now was finding where the Wang family's money was kept. With such a huge courtyard, he couldn't possibly tear the place apart piece by piece.
Suddenly, the Space vibrated, and an intangible wave emanated from it. Qin Shuli felt everything within a twenty-meter radius become crystal clear in his mind.
"This is... Space search?"
Overjoyed, Qin Shuli dashed at high speed through the Wang family estate, sweeping away all the wealth hidden inside the furniture or buried underground.
Not stopping there, Qin Shuli took anything of value he laid eyes on, nearly cleaning the Wang family out entirely.
At 2:00 AM, Qin Shuli vaulted back over the western wall. As he entered his room, he distinctly sensed movement from the opposite doorway.
"Ma, go back to sleep. I'm fine!"
Across the way, Wang Yueshu let out a soft breath. After hours of walking on tenterhooks, she could finally rest.
Having a child with such immense capabilities came with its own worries, too!
Lying down on the heated brick bed, Qin Shuli immediately entered the Space. To his surprise, the warehouse in the back had already automatically sorted and tallied everything.
On the shelves before him, layers upon layers of gleaming large gold bars were neatly stacked—80 in total.
There were 13 small gold bars, countless miscellaneous gold ornaments, 12,000 silver dollars, and 40,000 fiat currency notes.
True enough, fortune favors the bold; this haul had netted him an absolute fortune.
In addition, there were numerous pieces of rosewood and huanghuali furniture, as well as countless antiques and porcelains.
Qin Shuli didn't understand these items, so he would just leave them to gather dust.
The most useful things were the grain, meat, and various daily necessities.
After this, the Qin family would lack for nothing!
Early the next morning, Qin Shuli took 1,000 silver dollars and two small gold bars into Wang Yueshu's room.
"Ma, I'm leaving these for household expenses. Even if I'm not home, the family won't be short of money!"
Seeing the money on the bed, Wang Yueshu quickly stowed it away, not daring to let the twins see.
They were too young to know what should be said and what shouldn't.
"Are you hurt?" Wang Yueshu pulled Qin Shuli this way and that, inspecting him for a long time before she finally relaxed. Then she warned him, "Don't go out these next few days. It's bound to be very chaotic outside!"
"Alright, I'll listen to you, Ma. I won't go out!"
"Big brother?" Third Child poked her head out from under the quilt, her hair as messy as a bird's nest, completely blocking her eyes.
Third Child stretched out a hand that was starting to grow a bit chubby, clumsily swatting twice to push the hair out of her line of sight. Confirming it really was her big brother,
she coordinated hands and feet with lightning speed, scrambling up to the edge of the bed in two or three moves. "Big brother, hug!"
Qin Shuli hurriedly sat up on the bed, scooped Third Child into his arms, and pulled the quilt over to wrap her up.
Once Second Child woke up, he burrowed out from under the blanket and into Qin Shuli's arms. The twins hugged him from left to right, chattering about how much they had missed him over the past few days.
Watching the three children affectionately, Wang Yueshu felt a surge of happiness and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
After breakfast, Qin Shuli played in the courtyard with the twins, who were bundled up like little balls.
At that moment, the front gate was knocked on, and Jia Fugui hollered at the top of his lungs, "Qin family sister-in-law, open the door! I've got something to discuss with you!"
Wang Yueshu was washing clothes; hearing the shout, she opened the door. Catching sight of Jia Fugui, her face darkened instantly. "What business do you have, Master Jia?"
Jia Fugui looked at the object of his daily thoughts and chuckled. "Qin family sister-in-law, didn't I see that your brother Dazhu met with misfortune?
With you raising three children, life can't be easy. I have a good relationship with the plant manager,
and when he heard about your situation, he arranged a job for you. Why don't you come take a look with me?"
Qin Shuli stood beside Wang Yueshu with the twins, muttering to himself that Jia Fugui was definitely a weasel paying respects to a chicken—with no good intentions.
Wang Yueshu forced a fake smile. "Thank you, Master Jia, but my family is getting by just fine. I won't be visiting your plant!"
Who didn't know that the management at the Rolling Mill consisted of Japanese devils? Once she went in, would she ever come out alive?
