Qin Shuli did not bother to pry anything out of the small hole; he wouldn't be needing it in the future anyway. He circled around to the side of the Siheyuan and climbed into the east courtyard. The buildings here were mostly derelict—the landlord likely lacked the funds to repair them. Standing before the moon gate of the east courtyard, he listened intently to the movements in the rear courtyard. After waiting a while and confirming that everyone was asleep, he walked into the rear courtyard and stood before the main entrance of Jin Yueji's quarters. Qin Shuli activated his Space ability. The wooden bolt on the door was sliced through silently, and the iron caltrops on the floor were pulled into his Space. The old woman was quite cautious; the caltrops were the size of pigeon eggs and featured four sharp spikes. No matter how they were tossed onto the ground, one spike would always point upward—a weapon from ancient warfare. These, however, appeared to be custom-made; they shimmered with a faint blue light, clearly coated in poison. If anyone had snuck in during the dead of night and broken the bolt, they would have been unlikely to see them in the pitch black, even while watching their step. One touch would have been impossible to ignore, and the slightest sound would have awakened Jin Yueji in the bedroom. Never underestimate the vigilance of an old intelligence agent.
