The first light of dawn peeked through the thin clouds, spilling onto the window like a veil of gold draped over the world. A new day had quietly begun. As the first ray of sunlight playfully slipped through a gap in the curtains—nature’s gentle alarm clock—the three of them stirred awake at almost the same time.
