Wei Ling hurried to keep up. "Don't suddenly pick up the pace, watch your breathing rhythm. Slow down, kid!"
Ruhuahua’s mind was a blank slate, occupied only by the act of running forward. She had no energy to spare, and she didn't hear a word Wei Ling said. Her running grew increasingly chaotic; the unchecked acceleration soon made it impossible for her to keep going.
She had no idea how far she had run. Her limbs no longer felt like her own. It started with her arms and legs moving in sync, then her back foot caught the heel of her front shoe, and Ruhuahua’s legs gave out. Her knees hit the dirt road with a heavy thud.
