She scrambled off the daybed and hurried toward the door, but just as she reached for it, a thought struck her and she began searching for her bronze mirror. The dim surface of the mirror reflected a delicate and beautiful face—perhaps a little too pale. Ruhuahua raised her hand to pat her bloodless cheeks, then deftly twisted her hair into a simple bun, securing it with a golden hairpin adorned with white pearls. From her trunk, she retrieved a vibrant, bright red gown with a trailing skirt and gauze overlay. The large floral patterns blooming on the sleeves brought a flush of color to her otherwise pale complexion. In a matter of moments, Ruhuahua had tidied herself up, then impatiently pushed open the door and stepped out.
