I said anxiously, "Senior Brother, I really want to try. This might be the only way for me to recover my memories."
Mu Yanfeng’s gaze was firm. "No. This matter is not up for discussion. I cannot gamble with your safety."
Feeling deeply disappointed, my eyes welled up with tears. "Senior Brother, why can’t you trust that I have the ability to handle the danger?"
Mu Yanfeng looked at me, his tone softening slightly, yet his stance remained resolute. "Junior Sister, it is not that I do not trust you, but rather that I cannot allow you to come to any harm."
I stamped my foot in frustration, tugged gently on his sleeve, and said with a coquettish pout, "Senior Brother, just say yes. I know you are worried about me, but I really, really want to try. This might be the only way for me to recover my memories. Look, I’ve been practicing diligently; I won’t get hurt that easily."
Mu Yanfeng sighed helplessly but remained firm. "No, this is not up for discussion. I cannot gamble with your safety. Junior Sister, stop being so willful."
Tears welled in my eyes as I spoke with a choked voice, "Senior Brother, just indulge me this once. I promise to be obedient and stay right by your side. I absolutely won't run around and cause trouble for you. If I truly encounter danger, I will move behind you as fast as I can. Please, Senior Brother? I really don't want to miss this chance. I’m begging you."
Looking at my pitiful state, Mu Yanfeng finally softened. He gently ruffled my hair and said, "Sigh, I really can’t do anything with you. But you must keep your word and not act recklessly."
I broke into a smile through my tears and jumped for joy. "I knew Senior Brother was the best! I will definitely listen to you!"
At this moment, his disciple Qingmiao also stepped forward to volunteer. "Master, let me go too. I also want to contribute to this mission, and I can take good care of Junior Uncle." Qingmiao’s gaze was firm and his expression earnest, his bright eyes filled with anticipation and determination. "Master, please rest assured; I will absolutely not let any harm come to Junior Uncle."
Mu Yanfeng frowned, his expression filled with concern. "Qingmiao, this journey is extremely treacherous, filled with unknown crises and challenges, and you do not yet have sufficient experience to handle various emergencies. This is no child's play; the slightest mistake could lead to utter ruin."
Qingmiao quickly stepped forward and bowed, hands cupped. "Master, though I lack experience, I have been practicing diligently day and night during this time, and my techniques and spells have improved significantly. I know that this journey is a rare opportunity for growth, and I will certainly not let you down or hold anyone back. I hope you will grant my request. I have made full preparations; even if there are mountains of blades and seas of fire ahead, I will never retreat."
Mu Yanfeng stared at Qingmiao, silent for a moment, seemingly in thought. Finally, he nodded slightly and said earnestly, "Very well. Since you are so determined, you may come along. But you must remember to be cautious and careful. Do not act on impulse, and always prioritize your own safety when encountering danger."
Upon hearing this, a joyous smile spread across Qingmiao's face. "Thank you, Master! I will certainly keep your teachings in mind!"
Mu Yanfeng quickly gathered the sect’s elite disciples, and we packed our gear, ready to set out once more.
Before leaving, Mu Yanfeng said to everyone with a solemn expression, "This mission is fraught with danger. Everyone must be cautious and look out for one another. The enemies we face are cunning and cruel, so stay vigilant at all times and do not be the least bit lax."
"Yes!" the group replied in unison.
We traveled at high speed, tracking the direction indicated by the clues. Along the way, we passed through a desolate valley where the only sounds were our own footsteps and breathing.
Suddenly, a gust of wind howled past, carrying with it a strange, eerie sound.
"Everyone, be careful!" Mu Yanfeng shouted alertly.
A group of black shadows leaped down from the cliffs on both sides of the valley, instantly scattering our formation.
Mu Yanfeng and I stood back-to-back, engaging the enemies in combat. These foes fought with even more vicious and tricky moves, clearly having undergone special training. Their attacks were as fierce as a storm, leaving no room to breathe.
Qingmiao showed no fear. With his long sword in hand, he moved with agility, dancing through the fight. His eyes were steady and focused, each strike carrying a sharp momentum that drove back the approaching enemies. His forehead was soaked in sweat, but his sword strokes never slowed.
At this point, Mu Yanfeng shouted, "Disciples, hear my command! Form the defensive array!"
The disciples moved at his word, quickly encircling into a defensive formation, supporting one another. Some cast spells, forming luminous protective barriers that shone brilliantly, blocking the enemy's attacks, while others brandished their weapons, fighting bravely. Their battle cries echoed throughout the valley.
Mu Yanfeng led the charge, his sword moving like a swimming dragon, felling enemies wherever he went. His presence was like that of a god of war, striking fear into the hearts of the enemy. Under his leadership, the morale of the disciples soared.
"Junior Sister, hold on!" Mu Yanfeng shouted.
I gritted my teeth, channeling my spiritual power to cast spells. Rays of light darted among the enemies like lightning, striking them down and throwing their formation into chaos.
After a fierce battle, we finally repelled this wave of enemies and regrouped.
"Continue forward!" Mu Yanfeng waved his hand, leading everyone onward.
Finally, we reached a sinister demon lair. The entrance was tightly sealed, and thick black mist swirled around it. The mist seemed alive, rolling and churning in a way that made one's skin crawl.
"This must be their den," Mu Yanfeng said.
We carefully approached the gate. Just then, it slowly creaked open, and a powerful, evil aura rushed out to meet us...
Mu Yanfeng took the lead, his sword glinting with a cold light as he stepped into the lair first. I, along with Qingmiao and the other disciples, followed close behind, tense but resolute.
The lair was thick with darkness, and eerie laughter echoed all around. Suddenly, black shadows surged from the gloom, pouncing toward us.
"Be careful!" Mu Yanfeng warned loudly.
Everyone unleashed their ultimate techniques, engaging the shadows in a life-or-death struggle. In the heat of the fight, I realized that these shadows seemed to be innocent souls controlled by dark magic.
"Senior Brother, we must find a way to break this dark magic and liberate these souls!" I cried out.
Mu Yanfeng nodded and began to carefully observe the surroundings, searching for the core of the spell.
Qingmiao fought off the attacks of the shadows, buying time for Mu Yanfeng.
Finally, Mu Yanfeng spotted a massive dark magic formation deep within the lair, glowing with an eerie light.
"That’s it! Everyone, focus your power and attack the core of the formation!" Mu Yanfeng commanded.
Everyone unleashed their strongest spells and strikes, channeling their light into a single force that slammed into the dark formation.
With a thunderous crash, the formation shattered instantly, and the black shadows ceased their attacks, dissolving into motes of light as they dissipated into the air.
With the dark magic broken, the darkness in the lair began to recede. We pushed deeper inside and finally confronted the evil cultivator who had been orchestrating everything.
The cultivator was clad in black robes, with billowing black smoke swirling around him. His face was twisted and terrifying. As he waved his hands, black demonic energy snaked toward us.
Mu Yanfeng let out a sharp cry and darted forward, his sword slashing through the demonic mist like a bolt of lightning. I hurriedly cast a spell to protect him, while Qingmiao and the disciples formed an array to attack the cultivator from the flank.
Seeing this, the evil cultivator chanted a spell, instantly summoning countless black blades that shot toward us. Mu Yanfeng’s sword moved like the wind, parrying the incoming blades. I focused my mind, weaving a protective barrier to deflect the cultivator’s attacks.
Seizing the moment, Qingmiao and the disciples launched their array, firing beams of light at the cultivator. The villain roared, his demonic power surging. As our powers collided, the entire lair trembled.
Mu Yanfeng engaged the cultivator in a final duel. His gaze was as steady as stone, and all his spiritual power surged into his blade like a tidal wave. The sword shone with a brilliance as dazzling as the scorching sun.
The evil cultivator snarled, "Even if I die, I’ll drag you down with me!"
Mu Yanfeng retorted, "With me here, you won’t succeed!"
The cultivator did not hold back; the black smoke around him condensed into a massive, dark orb, crashing toward Mu Yanfeng with a force meant to destroy everything in its path.
Mu Yanfeng leaped into the air, pointing his sword toward the heavens. As he chanted, a sharp, fierce sword aura erupted from his blade, slicing through the darkness and colliding with the dark orb. In an instant, light and darkness intertwined, bursting into dazzling sparks. The sheer force of the impact shook the entire lair, making it feel as though it might collapse at any moment.
