Mu Yan smelled a sickening, putrid stench in the air, and felt an intense wave of nausea. She tried to run, but her feet were already mired in thick pus. Just as her entire body became coated in the liquid and her outer clothing began to dissolve, a burst of white light erupted from within her, shattering the man-eating flower into fragments. This was different from the spiritual barrier she had used to repel the sea sharks earlier; it felt like an autonomous power spreading from her abdomen throughout her entire body. It seemed the Spiritual Bead had saved her life once again. As Mu Yan rolled onto the path, she saw that the man’s arm had been blown away, and he had fainted from the agony. Seizing the opportunity, she ran toward the light curtain and darted through. Thinking she had escaped danger, Mu Yan had barely appeared on the other side when an incredibly powerful strike came whistling toward her. Had someone not parried the blow, it would have landed squarely on her face. The Spiritual Bead had just expended a burst of energy and likely hadn't recovered; she hadn't even had time to defend herself.
