Chapter 12

An extra five-kilometer run was Liulan's punishment for being late. Added to the five kilometers he had been penalized yesterday, it made a neat total of ten.
Seeing Liulan quietly eating his breakfast as if nothing had happened, Xie Ti stuffed a steamed bun into his mouth and asked with curiosity, "When the Chief Instructor came to drag you out, didn't anything happen?"
Recalling what had just taken place back in the dorm, Liulan's expression darkened.
"No."
That didn't look like nothing had happened by any stretch of the imagination, but Liulan's fierce expression was truly intimidating, so Xie Ti had no choice but to swallow his questions.
Du Jinfeng and a few others sat down nearby with their breakfasts and asked with puzzled expressions, "I ran into the instructor just now, and he said he'll have someone fix our door later... What's wrong with our door?"
Xie Ti shook his head in bewilderment and turned to look at Liulan.
Liulan said with a blank face, "It was kicked off by a gorilla."
Xie Ti, Du Jinfeng, and the others: "???"
Is base life really this close to nature?
"Where'd a gorilla come from?" Zhu Yiyi, who had just sat down, asked in confusion.
"It's nothing," Liulan brushed it off.
Zhu Yiyi only asked in passing, then immediately changed the subject. "Hey, have you all looked at the training schedule?"
"Seen it," Xie Ti waved a hand. "Looks like there's combat class today."
"What schedule?" Liulan looked at them in confusion.
Seeing that he seemed unaware, Xie Ti pointed at his wristband. "The training schedule can be viewed on the wristband. It was just sent out this morning. Didn't you see it?"
Having been tormented by the wristband all morning, Liulan finally began to study it seriously. He flipped through it carefully twice, but saw nothing at all.
"I didn't get it," he said.
"Really?" Xie Ti helped him flip through it twice as well. "Looks like you really don't have it."
"Is it that you didn't receive it, or did the instructor figure you'd be leaving soon anyway and didn't bother sending it?"
That obnoxious tone—you could tell it was Bailin just by hearing it. Without even raising his head, Liulan withdrew his hand and continued eating his breakfast.
Seeing Liulan ignore him, Bailin let out a cold snort, glared at him, and sat down.
"Instructor Nanwei does things rigorously; it's most likely not a missed transmission. Could there be a system error?" Du Jinfeng said.
After the events of the previous day, the others' attitudes toward Liulan had softened considerably. Lü Shi also chimed in, "Didn't Liulan borrow his wristband from the instructor? Perhaps because it isn't his own, it can't receive the training schedule."
Xie Ti clapped his hands. "Very likely!"
"Wouldn't that be super inconvenient, then?" Gong Yu said.
"No worries!" Xie Ti pulled up the training schedule on his own wristband. "I can just face-to-face transfer the schedule straight to Liulan."
With a beep from the wristband indicating the transfer was complete, Liulan immediately clicked on the schedule Xie Ti had sent and glanced over today's arrangements.
"I reckon our training schedule has probably already been broadcast all over the Interstellar Network by Director Zhang by now," Zhu Yiyi shrugged and said.
Xie Ti gave a couple of dry laughs. "I bet Director Zhang won't pass up this opportunity. The combat class this afternoon is definitely going to be live-streamed."
A bunch of celebrities studying how to beat each other up in a military base—just hearing about it sounded thrilling.
"The live stream might get cut," Du Jinfeng said suddenly.
At this, everyone looked surprised.
Du Jinfeng was a senior veteran with high standing and extensive connections; getting insider information in advance was no difficult task for him. If these words came out of his mouth, the matter of the live stream being shut down was most likely true.
"Why would they suddenly shut it down?" Lü Shi asked.
Du Jinfeng shook his head. "I don't know the specifics, but word has it that it's the military's decision. The military people watched yesterday's broadcast, and for some reason, they don't agree to keep streaming."
Yesterday's broadcast... If there were any unexpected incidents in yesterday's broadcast, that would probably be Liulan.
Everyone tacitly looked toward Liulan.
Liulan, the person at the center of the incident, was entirely oblivious. While gracefully eating his breakfast, he asked, "Aside from physical training this afternoon, it's combat class?"
Hearing this, Zhu Yiyi instantly grew excited. "Combat class! I've been super looking forward to it!"
"Speaking of which, didn't Bailin study combat? Then you'll have to lead the way for us this afternoon," Du Jinfeng smiled and said.
Nobody dislikes hearing flattery, especially when it comes from a senior. Hearing Du Jinfeng say this, Bailin couldn't keep the corners of his mouth from curling upward. He managed to put on a modest front and said, "I've only practiced for a few years, it's really nothing much. But if anyone runs into difficulties learning combat, I'll definitely help out where I can!"
With that, he purposefully glanced in Liulan's direction and proudly lifted his chin, though unfortunately Liulan didn't care at all and completely ignored him, angering him so much that he couldn't even enjoy his breakfast.
Seeing Bailin look away, Xie Ti stealthily tugged on Liulan's sleeve and whispered, "You'd better stay far away from Bailin during combat class this afternoon."
Liulan glanced at him and nodded casually. "He can't hurt me."
Xie Ti was exasperated at his lack of resolve. "You don't understand, it's all over the industry—Bailin isn't just all show; the guy has genuine skills. Aside from anything else, I'm just afraid he'll find an excuse in class to beat you up to vent for his idol or something..."
Hearing this, Liulan glanced at Bailin, who was angrily eating his breakfast, and said, "He can't beat me."
This wasn't the first time Liulan had spoken such wildly arrogant words, and Xie Ti was already used to it. Seeing that his advice wouldn't get through, he had no choice but to drop it.
