He had to remain vigilant against potential enemy encounters every step of the way, making every movement an arduous struggle. Fortunately, his mecha arm retained some functionality, which provided him with much-needed assistance. Whether due to cosmic storms or some form of signal jamming, Xu Jiangxing could not reach the command center. Every distress signal he transmitted vanished into the void, unanswered. He dragged himself along for most of the day without finding a suitable place to hide. The planet consisted primarily of unidentified ores and crystals; vegetation was sparse. The most prominent features were "crystal forests" made of colorful mineral formations. Beautiful as they were, Xu Jiangxing had no heart to admire them, as they signaled a near-total absence of food.
