After dinner, the prefects of each house began leading the new students toward their respective common rooms and dormitories. At the edge of the crowd, Alistair quietly slipped away and headed toward the Headmaster's Office. Inside the Headmaster's Office, the heads of all four houses had gathered—Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, and Professor Sprout—along with Hagrid, the gamekeeper.
