Chapter 2

"There's been a car accident! Call the 120 emergency line right now!"
She hurried forward to find an electric scooter lying overturned by the roadside. A middle-aged man was pinned beneath it, blood gushing from his lower leg. The surrounding crowd panicked and milled about helplessly; someone tried to lift the scooter, but she stopped them with a sharp bark:
"Don't move! The femoral artery is severed. Moving him will cause hemorrhagic shock!"
She crouched down, a flash of silver glinting from her fingertips as three silver needles precisely pierced the Chengshan, Weizhong, and Xuehai acupoints on the man's leg. The bleeding visibly slowed down, leaving the onlookers dumbfounded.
"You... are you a doctor?"
"Something like that." She lowered her gaze to withdraw the needles as the sound of approaching police sirens grew louder.
The arriving police officers stepped forward to ask questions just as an ambulance came screaming to a halt. A doctor in a white coat examined the injured man and looked up in astonishment:
"This hemostatic technique is remarkably professional! Young lady, which hospital are you interning at?"
Xu Luoning stood up and brushed the dust off her school uniform. "Senior year, Class 1."
That night, the class chat group exploded.
Someone uploaded a video of the accident scene: the young girl's school uniform was stained with blood, her profile as calm as frost, the silver needles moving like swimming dragons and startling swans between her fingertips.
"Does Xu Luoning actually know acupuncture?"
"No way, right? It has to be staged!"
Mu Xueqing's social media account suddenly popped up with a new post:
*[Thanks everyone for your concern, my leg injury is much better now.]* *[My younger sister was just acting on impulse for a moment, please don't blame her.]*
The attached image showed a bandaged knee, with the location tag showing the VIP ward of City Hospital.
Xu Luoning glanced across her phone screen and let out a cold sneer. She opened the original owner's textbook, her fingertips gently brushing over unfamiliar formulas and English words.
"Top scholar..." She pulled out a sheet of scrap paper, her pen tip scratching softly against the surface. "Not that difficult either."
Outside the window, the moonlight was chilly and cold, much like the solitary lantern hanging beneath the eaves of the Eastern Palace during The Great Yin Dynasty.
The video of the accident rescue went viral on short-video platforms, accumulating over a million likes overnight.
When Xu Luoning stepped through the school gates early the next morning, two uniformed police officers were already waiting in the Academic Affairs Office.
"Student Xu, we need your signature to confirm yesterday's accident report." The older officer handed over the documents with a probing look, adding, "Also, the Municipal Bureau would like to hire you as a special emergency response consultant to train police officers in hemostatic acupuncture for two hours a week. The salary will be based on expert standards."
The head teacher, Zhou Ting, nearly snapped the arm off her glasses. "She—she's still a high school senior..."
"That doesn't get in the way." The police officer smiled. "Student Xu's techniques can save lives. The director of surgery at City Hospital even called this morning asking for people, saying they lack an internship instructor in the acupuncture department."
Xu Luoning scanned the letter of appointment, her pen poised over the signature line. "I can be a consultant, but I want to participate in the Criminal Investigation Team's injury assessment unit."
She remembered from the original owner's memories that Mu Xueqing's "fall injury" medical report from last month had several contradictions.
During the lunch break, a hot post suddenly blew up on the campus forum:
*[Certain green tea bitch in senior year buys hot searches to build a persona! The car accident video is completely scripted!]*
The anonymous poster attached a blurry photo: Xu Luoning standing at the accident scene with someone holding a reflector opposite her.
Mu Xueqing timely updated her status:
*[My leg injury keeps acting up, but seeing my younger sister get recognized makes me so happy~]*
The attached image was a medical test sheet, with the red text indicating abnormal coagulation function specially circled in red.
"Xu Luoning!" The physics class representative slammed her phone down onto Xu Luoning's desk. "Senior Sister Mu has a coagulation disorder and physically cannot fake a fall injury. You even slandered her back then for staging a fake fall!"
Xu Luoning picked up the test sheet, her fingertips sliding across the test date—which happened to be three days *before* Mu Xueqing's "fall injury."
She suddenly let out a light laugh. "Article 29 of the 'Medical Institution Medical Record Management Regulations': anyone who alters medical records to cause medical disputes shall have their physician practice certificate revoked."
Amid the startled gasps of the crowd, she dialed the City Hospital.
"Director Zhang, could you please check the blood sample retention tubes for the patient Mu Xueqing? I suspect the laboratory department mixed up the anticoagulants."
