Yanyan had never imagined that the venerable supervisor would have such a side to him, yet he remained puzzled. Even so, it still seemed hardly enough for Gaotang to refuse to acknowledge the man as his uncle-in-law.
"You think that was the end of it?" Knowing what Yanyan was thinking, Gaotang continued recounting his past, one he could scarcely bear to look back on.
"After he tricked me into beating up all those mischievous kids, he went straight to my father to complain that I had been beating up my classmates in the schoolhouse! Then my dad strung me up and gave me a thrashing, while he and my little aunt just stood off to the side watching the fun!" Gaotang said with bitter resentment.
