When Chi Wan woke up again, the sky outside the window had already grown dark. Only a small desk lamp casting a bright yellow glow remained on in the tiny infirmary. The boy was sitting in the armchair beside the bed, his deep, dark eyes tightly closed. The soft light shone on his refined features, tempering his usual sternness with gentleness. Chi Wan moved her right hand and felt a discomfort on the back of her hand. She pulled her hand out from under the blanket and raised it, revealing a small patch of bruises and a needle mark.
