Mark had never seen so much food laid out before him in his entire life. Occasionally, he would catch enticing aromas wafting from the small restaurants outside the slums, which always prompted his stomach to protest in chorus. Over time, he had simply learned to stay away from that neighborhood—smelling the food without being able to eat it was a form of torture anyway, so why make himself miserable? Yet the exalted lord before him—no, a god, or perhaps an emissary of the gods in the mortal realm—was actually able to conjure up so much delicious food and bestow it upon him. Deep down, little Mark felt utterly shaken. It seemed that while the aloof lords up above didn't care whether the poor lived or died, there were still other deities in this world who could witness the sufferings of the mortal realm. "Are you truly a deity? Thank you so much, Lord God! May I ask your name? I will devote my life to following and worshiping you until my dying breath!"
