The sudden transformation of Youdu left the ghost kings outside the city unable to strike. They could not even draw near. With the offensive stalled, one of the Heavenly Lords immediately sought guidance from the Celestial Emperor Xuanming.
Following this, the thirty-six Heavenly Lords joined forces to summon the Investiture of the Gods, attempting to forcibly shatter Youdu’s defenses. Under the pressure of the Investiture, Youdu underwent yet another shift. The ten halls, having revealed their true forms, suddenly erupted with ten-colored rays of light that interconnected, manifesting a greater power that repelled the Investiture’s assault and blocked the Ancient God currently making its way toward the Demon-Suppressing Hall.
Yet, the price of such a feat was enormous. Many of Youdu’s great powers had fused their own beings with the city; if this continued, they would merge permanently with Youdu, becoming impossible to separate. Even so, they did not falter.
