Chapter 11

Although a piece of doggerel Lin Fei recited in the morning had utterly shocked Luo Xiaowei, various scams were too prevalent in modern society for her not to be on guard.
However, since she had already come, she didn't want to have made the trip for nothing. At the very least, she wanted to find out how this bumpkin knew she was terminally ill and how he had figured out what happened to her during her morning meeting.
"Um... my name is Luo Xiaowei." Luo Xiaowei still politely shook hands with Lin Fei.
Lin Fei had just finished digging up some fleeceflower roots, and his hands were covered in mud and dirt. He hurriedly wiped them on the seat of his pants.
The beauty's slender, delicate hand was soft and tender, and holding it made Lin Fei's mind wander for a moment.
Yet Luo Xiaowei's face could not completely conceal a look of disgust.
"Hello, Miss Luo. Do you want me to cure your illness?" Lin Fei asked straight to the point after putting down the medicine basket on his back.
"Uh, do you know what illness I have?"
"If I'm not mistaken, it should be a brain tumor—malignant. And you don't have much time left." Lin Fei pointed to his head and spoke bluntly.
Upon hearing Lin Fei's words, Luo Xiaowei furrowed her delicate brows and instinctively looked up at Mo Xinlan standing beside her.
Clearly, she did not want others to know about her condition.
"You two chat, I'm going to go boil pig feed."
Mo Xinlan caught the hint and quickly walked away.
"Since you know I have a terminal illness, you still dare to cure me? Do you think I'm really that naive to believe there are miracle doctors in this world?" Luo Xiaowei no longer bothered to hide her skepticism toward Lin Fei.
In fact, there was a certain degree of insincerity in her words.
Thinking of the two lines of doggerel Lin Fei had spoken, it was hard for her not to believe him at all. Yet, reason told her that the existence of divine, reclusive experts was indeed absurd.
She had struggled with internal conflict before coming here, but driven by curiosity and the will to survive, she ultimately decided to take a look. What if she really did stumble upon a reclusive expert?
She was only twenty-two years old; her life was just beginning, and she didn't want to leave just like that. Even if there was only the slimmest sliver of hope, she had to fight for it.
However, when she discovered that the so-called miracle doctor turned out to be a man in his twenties who was also arrogant and boastful, she became completely disillusioned.
"If you don't believe me, why did you come looking for me?" Lin Fei shrugged.
"I... I was just curious how you knew I'd be screwed over by a bald man who splashed coffee on my face, and how you knew about my condition," Luo Xiaowei said with a cold face.
Hearing Luo Xiaowei's words, Lin Fei suddenly had an epiphany: so the "black water" mentioned in the divination was coffee!
"Do I have any reason to tell you?"
Sensing that the other party didn't believe him at all, Lin Fei's attitude cooled down.
"Are you a doctor? Do you have a medical license?"
Luo Xiaowei questioned him belligerently. The expression on her face at that moment was like that of a counterfeit-enforcement officer.
"I'm interning at the town hospital, and I'll be taking the medical licensing exam soon," Lin Fei replied.
"Oh! The truth comes out now." Luo Xiaowei curled the corner of her lip.
"The truth? What do you mean?" Lin Fei frowned slightly and asked.
"If I agree to let you treat me, how much do you plan to charge for the consultation fee?"
Instead of answering Lin Fei's question, Luo Xiaowei narrowed her almond-shaped eyes and asked with a look of disdain.
"However much your life is worth is how much the consultation fee should be. Perfectly reasonable," Lin Fei said without hesitation, twitching the corner of his mouth.
"Ha! Finally showing your true colors, aren't you? I bet someone in your hospital's radiology department leaked my medical records to you!"
"Hmph! I knew backwater places bred treacherous people! You really are trying to exploit my illness for extortion!"
"I must be ridiculous for actually believing the nonsense of a wild mountain bumpkin and scoundrel!"
"Kid! Let me give you a piece of advice: being poor is nothing to be ashamed of! But doing such malicious, harmful things is utterly shameless and despicable! I'm going to go to your hospital to investigate this thoroughly. If they deliberately leaked my private medical information or if you stole it, I will definitely resort to legal action!"
Luo Xiaowei cursed Lin Fei out from head to toe, then turned and strode away in her high heels, fuming with anger.
"Wait!"
Just as Luo Xiaowei stepped out of the courtyard gate, Lin Fei suddenly called out to her.
"Take this. You'll need it."
Lin Fei handed her the bedpan he had used when he was paralyzed, saying, "This is for you."
"Th-this is what?" Luo Xiaowei had never seen such a gadget in her life.
"For peeing. Incredibly convenient."
"Hahahaha!"
Lin Fei's actions sent the surrounding women into fits of laughter.
"You... shameless! You hooligan!"
Overwhelmed with shame and fury, Luo Xiaowei hurled an angry curse at Lin Fei, jumped into her luxury car, revved the engine fiercely, and sped away.
"Xiaowei, you're too wicked! Who gives their girlfriend a urinal?"
"Look at how you pissed that girl off! Is something wrong with your brain after being paralyzed for so long, kid?"
"Oh my god, I'm dying of laughter! I bet because he was paralyzed for over two years and slept holding a urinal every day, he thinks it's the most precious thing in the world and gave it to her as a treasure!"
"Ahahaha!"
...
Facing the loud mockery of these women, Lin Fei couldn't be bothered to respond, only silently talking back in his mind: *What the hell do you know!*
"Xiaowei, what did you do that for? She just came to see you for medical treatment, why did you have to humiliate her?"
Mo Xinlan was also quite uncomprehending of Lin Fei's actions.
"Sister-in-law, I wasn't humiliating her. She'll understand my intention shortly," Lin Fei said calmly with a mysterious smile.
"You're acting all mystical these days. Alright, hurry up and help me pour this pig feed for the pigs," Mo Xinlan said, patting Lin Fei on the arm.
"You got it!"
Lin Fei took the bucket of pig feed from his sister-in-law and walked toward the pigpen.
Huh?
No way!
Could there actually be some treasure underneath the pigpen?
As Lin Fei was pouring the pig feed into the trough, he suddenly noticed a peculiar wave of spiritual energy emanating from within the filthy pigpen.
This spiritual energy seemed to be radiating from deep beneath the earth of the pigpen.
Yet strangely, when he looked closely and intently, the peculiar spiritual energy vanished just as suddenly.
Lin Fei rubbed his eyes and looked again, but the spiritual energy was completely gone.
*I must be seeing things,* he thought, and didn't dwell on it. After all, the idea of a treasure existing in a stinky pigpen was simply too unbelievable.
Meanwhile, Luo Xiaowei was so angered by Lin Fei that she felt her period was about to start early. When in her life had she ever been humiliated like this?
And the crucial part was that she had been bullied by a stinky country bumpkin!
Who was she? The daughter of Wenshan County's wealthiest family!
She felt like she must have lost her mind today to believe in some bullshit reclusive expert or miracle doctor; she had simply brought this humiliation upon herself!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She took large gulps of bottled water, and her foot pressed harder and harder on the accelerator.
As she rounded a mountain road bend, a bus suddenly appeared parked right in front of her.
Screech!
Terrified, she immediately slammed on the brakes. Fortunately, it was a luxury car with a powerful braking system, which kept her from rear-ending it.
As it turned out, the mountain road ahead was experiencing a traffic jam of unknown length.
Her car had happened to stop right in a narrow, walled section of the mountain slope where neither of the side doors could be opened fully.
A bus was in front, and an agricultural truck quickly pulled up right behind her bumper.
Her car was completely blocked in; getting out of the vehicle was entirely impossible.
Luo Xiaowei figured the road would clear up after a short wait, but she waited and waited while the cars ahead didn't budge an inch.
This wait lasted for over an hour.
Because she had just chugged a large bottle of mineral water, she felt her lower abdomen swelling more and more, and the urge to urinate became increasingly urgent!
Just as she reached her limit and frantically searched the car for anything that could solve her emergency, the image of Lin Fei handing her the bedpan suddenly flashed back into her mind.
Oh, heavens!
He had calculated that too?!
Was he... was he truly a divine prognosticator?!
Luo Xiaowei was so shocked she almost wet herself. Throwing all hesitation aside, she hurriedly grabbed the mineral water bottle...
