Hah!
Lin Fei burst into his sister-in-law's bedroom, grabbed Liu Er by the back of his collar, hoisted him overhead with one hand, and slammed him hard onto the floor.
Thump!
"Ah!"
Liu Er let out a miserable shriek. He was sent spinning, seeing stars, with blood trickling from his nose and mouth.
Lin Fei was stunned. He hadn't expected his strength to have grown so immense! Liu Er was a strapping man weighing nearly two hundred pounds, yet Lin Fei had hoisted him over his head with just one hand.
Bang!
Before Liu Er could even register what was happening, Lin Fei landed a powerful kick to his stomach, sending him rolling right out of the bedroom and into the main room.
Liu Er had assumed it was some meddlesome villager, but when he saw it was actually the paralyzed Lin Fei, he was frozen in shock.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"You bastard! How dare you bully my sister-in-law! I'll beat you to death!"
Still fueled by rage, Lin Fei rushed out of the room and began a brutal beating on the stupefied Liu Er.
"Ah! Stop! Stop hitting me!"
Liu Er rolled on the floor, wailing and begging for mercy, completely unable to fight back.
"Uncle! You—how are you able to get off the bed? And your eyes, they’re better too?"
Lin Bao'er suddenly ran out, staring at Lin Fei with her wide, dark eyes. She was quite resilient; despite being kicked off the bed by Liu Er earlier, she wasn't injured.
Bao'er's cry brought Lin Fei, whose reason had been clouded by fury, back to his senses. He realized for the first time that his strength had far exceeded that of a normal man; if he kept going, he might actually beat Liu Er to death.
"Damn you, you piece of trash, get out! If you ever dare to bully my sister-in-law again, I'll take your life!"
Lin Fei snarled at the man on the floor, and Liu Er scrambled to his feet, crawling away in a panic.
"Uncle, please go check on my mom. Liu Er hit her, and she won't move! Is she... is she dead?"
Lin Bao'er pulled Lin Fei into the room, sobbing.
Not daring to delay, Lin Fei rushed inside. As it turned out, his sister-in-law, Mo Xinlan, had simply fainted from shock and rage. Lin Fei checked her pulse and sensed nothing major, so he decided not to wake her.
However, Lin Fei noticed that his sister-in-law was dressed quite scantily, and what with Liu Er having torn at her clothes earlier, everything was exposed. The sight of her white, jade-like beauty and the soft curves of her figure made his heart hammer against his ribs.
Lin Fei felt his face flush, and he secretly scolded himself for staring at her like a fool. He held nothing but gratitude and respect for her.
"Uncle, what's wrong with my mom?"
The terrified Lin Bao'er, tears still staining her cheeks, blinked her large eyes as she lay in Lin Fei's arms and asked.
"Don't be afraid. Your mom is fine. She's just tired and has fallen asleep. Bao'er, go to sleep now."
After coaxing Bao'er to sleep, Lin Fei returned to his own room. He sat on the kang for a long time, trying to steady his chaotic mind.
He couldn't help but touch the Safety Talisman hanging around his neck. He recalled the bizarre events of the night; they had all started when this talisman began to heat up.
*Could this talisman be what healed me? How is that possible? Is there really something so mysterious in this world?*
Filled with wonder, Lin Fei took off the talisman to examine it closely.
Crack!
The moment his gaze met the jade talisman, it shattered directly into powder! The dust then transformed into specks of light that shot into his eyes at incredible speed.
"Ah! Hiss!"
Lin Fei felt a sharp sting in the center of his forehead, and then, a massive influx of mysterious information surged into his mind!
*Huh? This is... the inheritance of the Tongtian Divination Formula? My god, I’ve actually obtained the inheritance of an ancient divine art?!*
As Lin Fei processed the information in his mind, he was stunned and bewildered. He suddenly realized that he had perhaps stumbled upon a miraculous destiny found only in fantasy novels!
The Tongtian Divination Formula was a mysterious cultivation method centered on the art of divination. Beyond fortune-telling, the inheritance included many other skills and abilities, such as medicine, martial arts, alchemy, talisman crafting, formation arrays, and the arts of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. However, many of these abilities required higher cultivation levels to activate.
The Tongtian Divination Formula was divided into eight levels, from low to high: the Gen, Kan, Xun, Zhen, Li, Dui, Kun, and Qian realms, with each realm subdivided into seven tiers.
...
After a brief overview, Lin Fei began to practice, filled with curiosity and lingering doubt. Following the instructions, he sat cross-legged on the kang, regulating his posture, breath, and heart.
After about half an hour, Lin Fei was amazed to feel a faint, warm current of air generating in his dantian! This was the Heaven-Reaching Spiritual Qi described in the manual. This qi was truly miraculous—it could predict the future, strengthen the body, cure illnesses, ward off evil spirits, and even stimulate the growth of all living things.
Another hour passed, and the warm current in his dantian not only grew more concentrated, but actually condensed into a red Gen trigram symbol! Although the image was faint, it was clearly the "☶" pattern, with one solid line on top and two broken lines below.
According to the manual, the condensation of a red Gen trigram in the dantian signaled a breakthrough to the first tier of the Gen Realm! Upon reaching this stage, Lin Fei could perform divinations to predict events within a three-day window. He already felt he had a perfect grasp of how to cast and interpret the hexagrams.
Lin Fei was overcome with wild excitement. He now believed with 100% certainty that he had truly received an incredible destiny!
*Liu Jinshan! Your time is up!*
Lin Fei ceased his practice and slowly opened his eyes. The fires of vengeance, suppressed for two years, began to burn fiercely in his heart.
Before dawn the next day, Mo Xinlan woke up. She thought back to the previous night, her mind still hazy, but looking at the clothes Liu Er had torn, it didn't feel like a dream. She couldn't remember what had happened after she fainted.
She checked herself thoroughly, confirming that the dog Liu Er hadn't succeeded in his vile intentions. After checking on Bao'er, who was sleeping soundly beside her, she patted her chest and let out a long sigh of relief.
She walked to the door of Lin Fei's bedroom and gently lifted the curtain. She saw her brother-in-law lying quietly on the kang, just as he had always been. She had no idea that the paralyzed, blind brother-in-law she had cared for for over two years was already healed.
Mo Xinlan went about her usual routine, heading to the kitchen to boil some water, intending to bring it over to wipe Lin Fei down.
