Though it was the fief of the Marquis of the West, it was incomparably prosperous. The people there were honest and simple to the point that doors were left unlocked at night, and lost property left on the road was never picked up. The people of Xiqi earned their livelihood entirely through the labor of their own hands, and bullies who oppressed the common folk were virtually unheard of.
All of this was thanks to the efforts of Ji Chang, the Marquis of the West, whom the people of Xiqi revered as a Sage.
