Chapter 3

"Father, couldn't you have hired a normal bodyguard? Besides, don't I already have bodyguards normally?" Two hours later, Li Yuyan stood in her father's study, still puffing out her cheeks in anger as she spoke to him.
"Yan'er, what's wrong? Did Xiao Tian bully you?" Li Zheng asked with doting affection as he looked at his precious daughter's pout.
"No, but just looking at him makes me mad!" Li Yuyan pouted angrily.
"Oh? Why is that?" Li Zheng asked with some curiosity upon hearing his daughter's words. He had personally interviewed Xiao Tian himself, so there shouldn't have been any major issues.
"He's way too tacky, acting like some kind of lunatic," Li Yuyan said, still looking furious.
"Oh? Haha, and here I thought it was something serious! Xiao Tian just retired from the military, so he might still be a little unaccustomed to the hustle and bustle of modern life. If anything, that just proves he has no hidden agendas," Li Zheng said with a smile, watching his daughter's puffed-up face.
"Hmph, why do you think that guy Xiao Tian is so great, Father?" Hearing her father's explanation, Li Yuyan was clearly still unsatisfied.
"Yan'er, our family's conglomerate has been competing with several major financial groups from the Island Kingdom over overseas properties recently, and those bastards have zero morals. Dad just wants to arrange an extra close-protection bodyguard for you so that your mother and I can have some peace of mind," Li Zheng explained patiently as he looked at his beloved daughter.
This was precisely why, upon discovering Xiao Tian, Li Zheng had arranged for him to be Li Yuyan's personal bodyguard.
"Fine, I'll try to get along with him normally for a while!" Hearing her father's explanation, Li Yuyan instantly calmed down a bit.
Though she was a spoiled and willful Young Miss, she still knew the difference between major and minor issues. Naturally, she understood the gravity of what her father was saying.
"Good girl. Just try getting along with Xiao Tian normally for a while first. If you really can't stand him, Dad will find you another bodyguard," Li Zheng said with a smile, seeing that his daughter had compromised.
"So, when I go to school, is Xiao Tian coming too?" Li Yuyan asked her father next.
"Yes, I've already handled the enrollment procedures for him. He'll be in your class," Li Zheng smiled and said.
"Xiao Tian in my class? He said he joined the army at thirteen—he probably never even finished middle school! If he goes to my class, how is he supposed to keep up?" Li Yuyan asked in surprise upon hearing her father's words.
It was no wonder Li Yuyan felt this way. After all, her school was the finest elite high school in all of Modu City.
Not only that, but Li Yuyan's class was also the top class in that elite school. Being in this class required more than just good grades; every single student in it came from an extraordinary background.
Would someone like Xiao Tian, with no background whatsoever and not even a middle school education, be able to survive in a place like that?
"It'll be fine. The fact that Xiao Tian was able to enter military service at the age of thirteen proves he certainly has his own abilities," Li Zheng replied with an unwavering smile.
He was right—the nation's military forces were modernized nowadays, and they certainly wouldn't recruit a boy who couldn't even read!
Therefore, Li Zheng believed Xiao Tian must have a few tricks up his sleeve. Besides, Li Zheng had already asked Xiao Tian, and Xiao Tian had said it wouldn't be a problem.
"Alright, I just hope he can adapt!" Li Yuyan said, pursing her lips.
"Now then, let's assign a room for Xiao Tian. Which room do you think would be most appropriate for him to stay in?" Li Zheng asked gently, seeing that his daughter's anger had subsided.
