Lěng Yè awoke from a hazy sleep to find his entire body aching all over. The power within him felt as though it had been completely drained, and even the rotation of his natal Golden Core had grown sluggish. A flash of confusion crossed his face—under normal circumstances, after a full night of rest, he should have mostly recovered. Why, then, did he feel even more exhausted now?
Immediately afterward, he noticed a dense, suffocating demonic aura permeating the room. If he hadn't been entirely certain that he was still human, he would have suspected that he had somehow turned into a demon overnight. "What is going on here?" Lěng Yè wondered, sensing the surrounding demonic aura, only to be shocked to discover that the malevolent energy was actually emanating from his own body.
