Miaomiao's nerves were taut. The moment she grabbed the baton, she poured all her remaining strength into charging forward. Running alongside her was another anchor runner from the sports track team. The two of them were neck and neck, constantly swapping the lead. Miaomiao gritted her teeth; the cheers of encouragement behind her and the shouts from the stands were blown away and scattered by the fierce headwind. Her heart was beating so fast it felt as though it might burst right out of her chest. The competitor beside her possessed extraordinary strength and gradually began to overshadow Miaomiao. Acting as if it took no effort at all, her opponent calmly and steadily pulled ahead of Miaomiao, eventually opening up a clear gap of a meter or two. Miaomiao felt deeply resentful. The wild wind whipped furiously against her face, but her spirit was willing while her flesh was weak. She could only watch helplessly as the other girl slowly pulled away from her. For a moment, she even held her breath and forced herself to lengthen her stride.
