Summer cicadas buzzed, their din radiating the passionate heat of life. Dense, verdant trees cast vast patches of shade, swaying gently in the breeze.
A large jar of fine wine was placed before Tai Ri Yang Mang, yet he frowned, feeling no desire to drink deeply.
"Roaming Gu, oh Roaming Gu, you have caused me endless misery. Now that I have fine wine, I dare not drink my fill for fear that once I am drunk, you will carry me off to yet another perilous place," Tai Ri Yang Mang sighed bitterly.
During his previous two outings, the Roaming Gu had once carried him into the Abyss of the Ordinary and another time into a Hairy Man's boiling oil vat. Fortunately, he was lucky enough to escape with his life both times.
The Roaming Gu replied, "Crown Prince of the Human Race, I did not deliberately entrap you. In truth, it is always after you get drunk that you activate my power. I am innocent too; besides, didn't I save your life once?"
Indeed, the Roaming Gu had once saved Tai Ri Yang Mang from the jaws of the Spotted Tiger Bees.
Looking dejected, Tai Ri Yang Mang said, "Sigh... Let us not speak of the past. Now, because of you, I dare not even drink fine wine. My life has lost all joy."
