Chapter 22

This minor interlude did little to dampen the spirits of the four friends. After wandering around the pedestrian street and sampling various local snacks, they finally made their way outside the Dongfang Grand Theatre. By now, night had fallen. The neon lights at the entrance flickered with colorful hues, and the giant LED screen above the doors looped promotional broadcasts for the Huaguo Annual Film Awards. No wonder the entrance was packed with people. Many were holding light sticks and signs bearing the names of celebrities. As die-hard fans, Sun Mengmeng and Gu Yanzi were certainly not going to let slip this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They decided to wait right here, hoping to snap a photo with their favorite stars. Gu Yanzi and Sun Mengmeng were absolute superfans of the major star Liu Yifan. With his handsome looks and superb acting skills, he had amassed a massive following of female fans. "If I don't marry in this lifetime, I'll marry no one but Liu Yifan" had become the rallying cry for many of his female supporters.
