The male protagonist resented the original host for not loving him back and for marrying someone else. He also resented Mother Pu for breaking them apart. Yet, he loved the original host even more. In the face of his love for her, every injury he had ever suffered was reduced to nothing.
However, his obsessive care and pity for the original host incited the jealousy of the female protagonist. Claiming deep grievances, she ran to the devoted second male lead to weep, alleging that the male protagonist was cheating with his first love and that the "other woman" was encroaching upon their home.
To vent the female lead's frustration, the devoted second male lead bribed a group of thugs to intercept the original host. They stripped her naked, took countless indecent photos, and plastered them all over the streets.
