Chapter 633

690 words3 minutes read

At one o’clock that night, the gang of thugs crept stealthily toward the entrance of Yuanchun’s shop. One of them pulled out a thin piece of wire and was just about to pick the lock when a sudden, thunderous roar erupted from the sky. Several bolts of lightning crashed down, scaring the thugs so badly they scrambled to flee. It was as if the lightning had eyes; it chased right at their heels. Two of the slower ones were struck and collapsed to the ground, their bodies numbed, unable to rise for a long time. The few who ran fast reached a public square, only to be suddenly pummeled by unseen forces. Fists rained down on their flesh, yet they could see nothing, which sent them into a frenzy of howling and wailing, their terror so profound that they wet themselves. The gang was rushed to the hospital that night, all of them screaming about ghosts. Their cries made the doctors and nurses feel a chill down their spines. Two of the thugs were so traumatized they suffered mental breakdowns; after being discharged, their families sent them straight to a psychiatric ward. The others, though not mentally broken, dared not commit any more misdeeds or trouble Yuanchun again. To avoid Lin Zhenfei, they banded together and headed south to find work.
