Chapter 7

Mo Liujin's trousers were stripped down by Mo Liuteng, leaving only a pair of undergarments. This way, the corpse beetles on both his thighs and lower abdomen could be removed. It was just a pity for a grown man like Mo Liujin, lying on the ground in nothing but his underwear while a woman stared at him. It made his face burn as if it were on fire.
Chu Qingmeng frowned as she looked at Mo Liujin's wounds. Fortunately, the wounds were not deep and the corpse beetles were already dead; otherwise, with wounds this large, he would probably have bled to death. Yet this idiot had actually endured it in silence! Chu Qingmeng spoke up, "The wounds are too large, they probably need to be stitched up. It's just that I don't have a needle and thread. Stitching them up will help them heal faster."
Mo Liuteng suddenly chimed in, "Little Sister has a sewing kit. Young ladies always carry a needle and thread pouch on them. Would that work?"
Chu Qingmeng nodded. "Go get it. I'll get the corpse beetles out of him first." With that, she picked up her dagger, roasted it over the fire, and said to Mo Liujin, "Hold on. The flesh in this area is quite tender, you'll probably hurt more than the older man."
Without waiting for Mo Liujin to react, Chu Qingmeng thrust her knife in, cut open the flesh surrounding the wound, and squeezed out the corpse beetle. The sudden ambush almost made Mo Liujin lose his breath. Chu Qingmeng signaled with her eyes for Mo Liuteng to hold Mo Liujin down, and the moment Mo Liuteng pinned him, Chu Qingmeng poured alcohol over the wound. Mo Liujin instantly broke into a cold sweat, feeling as if his high fever had broken right then and there. Chu Qingmeng mercilessly wiped away the excess alcohol with a cotton swab, an action that made Mo Liujin feel as though he had just come back to life. Just as he was about to let out a sigh of relief, Mo Liuteng shoved a wooden stick into his mouth. Immediately after, another wave of pain hit the wound as Chu Qingmeng began stitching. Fortunately, the wounds were not deep, and since Chu Qingmeng had no professional stitching skills, she simply looked at the muscle and skin and sewed it up in two layers, figuring she would have him find a hospital to get them re-stitched properly once they got out of the forest. As soon as she finished treating the wound on his lower abdomen, Chu Qingmeng plunged her knife in again at his thigh and repeated the entire process. Mo Liujin felt completely shattered! Just as she was about to finish the last stitches, he passed out cold, lying rigid on the ground.
Chu Qingmeng twitched the corner of her mouth, put away her tools, and motioned for Mo Liuteng to dress him properly. She then turned to check on Mo Chenfeng. It had been two hours since he took the fever reducers and anti-inflammatory drugs, but he showed no signs of his fever breaking at all. Chu Qingmeng looked around and noticed that Mo Liufang still hadn't returned. Remembering that Mo Liujin hadn't taken his anti-inflammatory and fever medication yet, she took out the pills, pushed them into his mouth, and gave him some water to wash them down. Just as she sat down to add a piece of firewood, Mo Liufang came back carrying some water in a lotus leaf. Mo Liufang and Mo Liuteng spent the entire night wiping down Mo Chenfeng and Mo Liujin's bodies, while Chu Qingmeng sat by the fire with her back to them, feeding wood to the flames all night long.
When dawn broke brightly, the fire had burned out. Aside from Mo Chenfeng and Mo Liujin, who were still unconscious, everyone else was up. Chu Qingmeng took out some compressed biscuits and handed them out, and after drinking some river water, they had at least something in their stomachs to sustain themselves. The group regained a bit of their strength. Looking at the two unconscious men, Mo Liufang decided to have Mo Liuteng and Mo Liuchen take Mo Wuquang and leave first, to see if they could find rescue. After thinking for a moment, Chu Qingmeng split her dry rations into two portions and had them take one so they wouldn't starve to death in the forest.
After they left, darkness gradually fell again. As Chu Qingmeng was preparing to change the two men's bandages, she suddenly remembered—didn't Yunnan Baiyao come with a Life-saving Pill? Supposedly it could treat trauma and snake venom? Remembering this, Chu Qingmeng hurriedly pulled out the Yunnan Baiyao, rummaged through the cotton stuffing, and sure enough, found a Life-saving Pill. Thank goodness she had bought several bottles of Yunnan Baiyao out of fear of getting hurt during wilderness survival. She took out two Life-saving Pills, popped one into each of their mouths, and said to Mo Liufang, "These are my last life-saving pills. If they still don't wake up after taking these, then you'd better pray Mo Liuchen and the others can find rescuers and a divine doctor."
Mo Liufang cast a grateful look at Chu Qingmeng's back, but the word "thanks" felt stuck in his throat, unable to be spoken.
Time ticked away second by second. Chu Qingmeng and Mo Liufang took turns resting and taking care of the two men. Finally, just as dawn was breaking, Mo Chenfeng weakly called out for "water." Chu Qingmeng hurriedly fed him some mineral water; at this point, she didn't dare let either of them drink river water. If they got a secondary infection, she didn't have any medicine for internal injuries! After swallowing a few sips of water, Mo Chenfeng slowly regained consciousness. Chu Qingmeng raised an eyebrow. Holy crap? These Life-saving Pills are this miraculous? She reached out and felt Mo Chenfeng's forehead. "Mister, your fever broke, hey."
Mo Chenfeng's voice was terribly hoarse. He opened his mouth, but no sound came out. Chu Qingmeng quickly said, "Mister, you should keep resting and don't talk. I'll get you something to eat." Chu Qingmeng opened her backpack, took out a can of luncheon meat, placed the meat onto a leaf nearby, dropped in a piece of compressed biscuit, poured in some water, and immediately set it over the fire to heat up.
Meanwhile, Mo Liujin had just opened his eyes and saw the young woman before him preparing food. The flickering firelight reflected on her face, making her look so gentle.
