Cold water drops fell onto my face, and I snapped my eyes open, a sharp pain throbbing at the back of my head. Damp stone walls greeted my vision, and coarse iron chains had rubbed raw, bloody scabs into my wrists. I tried to move, and the chains rattled, sounding jarringly loud in the claustrophobic dungeon.
"Awake?" A raspy voice came from the next cell over.
I struggled to turn my head and, through the iron bars, saw a white-haired old man curled up in the neighboring cell. His clothes were in rags, but his eyes were startlingly bright.
