Tang Li opened her heavy eyelids and took a moment before turning her gaze to the person at the desk.
To be precise, it was a demon, because that person had a title floating above their head: [Scheming Devil King Arch-Villain / Bai Niao].
She silently closed her eyes, muttering to herself that this world was quite absurdly dramatic.
Bai Niao noticed that she had woken up and waited for her to speak first, but she simply closed her eyes instead.
Was she trying to avoid facing her?
"You're awake?" Bai Niao dropped her haughty attitude and spoke first.
Tang Li turned a deaf ear, keeping her eyes tightly shut, hoping this was all just a dream. She thought she had simply fallen asleep before class, and everything would be fine once she woke up.
"Speak. My place doesn't waste food on good-for-nothings." Bai Niao walked over to the bed, her knuckles-prominent fingers reaching out to pinch the slender neck.
"Say what?" Tang Li knitted her pretty eyebrows, struggling to breathe as she spoke.
"Who killed those people from the Yunyan Sect? And why are your wounds different from theirs?" Bai Niao demanded, every word dripping with ruthlessness.
"You want to know?" Tang Li raised an eyebrow.
With that expression, she looked exactly like a mischievous bad fox.
Bai Niao was momentarily bewitched by her. Catching herself, she grew furious out of embarrassment and pinched harder: "Whether I want to know or not, you are going to tell me. This is your only chance to survive."
Tang Li swallowed back the retort of *I don't even want to survive*, offering a faint smile instead. "Fine, come a bit closer. I don't have the strength to speak."
Bai Niao looked at her suspiciously for two full minutes before finally being swayed by her innocent look. She leaned down and brought her ear close to Tang Li's lips.
Tang Li gathered her breath, raised her arms to wrap them around Bai Niao with all her might, and blurted out quickly, "I told you I'm not from this world. How many times do you want me to repeat it? I am not any Master! I want to go home! I'm from the twenty-third century, my home is in Yuncheng, did you understand that? Arch-villain."
After she finished, Bai Niao stood frozen in a daze for a moment before collapsing into darkness.
Tang Li pushed her away with disgust, pulled the sword from beside the bed, and cleanly and efficiently finished her off.
After a while, Tang Li sat on the floor in a daze. Now both the heroine and the villain of this world were dead, so what meaning was there for this world to continue existing? Shouldn't she be sent back immediately?
With no answers after pondering, she unwrapped the gauze on her hand and found that the wound had already healed, leaving only a flesh-colored scar.
"Ha? Can't even die, is that it?" she muttered self-deprecatingly, staring at the scar.
Feeling depressed, she picked up her sword and went outside to hack at demons.
After slaughtering all the demons in the Demon Palace, she collapsed onto the ground, breathing her last. Finally, a beam of white light appeared before her eyes, and she forced her eyes wide open, wanting to see what lay behind the light.
Suddenly, a mass of energy flew out from the white light and struck her right in the chest.
Tang Li could feel the strong intent of retaliation within it, so she smiled with her eyes and defiantly raised her middle finger.
The entity inside the white light was provoked by her and fired even more energy blasts to attack her.
Tang Li gritted her teeth without uttering a sound, yet the smile on her face grew increasingly unhinged.
After a while, the entity in the white light grew tired of attacking and rolled out. It was a very deflated egg.
It stopped right in front of Tang Li. "You..."
Before it could finish speaking, the eggshell was shattered by a stab from Tang Li's sword.
"Are you a madwoman? You're completely insane!" The egg rolled backward a few steps, making a sound of indignation.
"Oh, you're finally here. Send me back, or I'll destroy this world." Tang Li narrowed her eyes and panted.
"Originally, I came here to send you back, but look at what you've done now! Returning is out of the question, let's just die together!" The egg shouted angrily at her.
Tang Li lay face down on the ground, stubbornly raising her middle finger with her left hand.
The person and the egg stood in a stalemate for a moment. The moment the egg opened its mouth, Tang Li stabbed it with her sword again, driving the egg to the verge of a breakdown.
"Do you want to go home or not?" The egg launched an energy blast at her.
"Of course, and I want to go back immediately, right now. I won't help you with anything, and I won't agree to any of your conditions." Tang Li swung her sword to deflect the energy blast.
"But this is the mess you created! Can you be reasonable?" The egg complained bitterly.
"Did I ask to come here? Did I beg you to bring me here?" Tang Li looked at it coldly.
"Fine, it's me, it's me, it's all my fault! But things are already like this—if you don't help me, I won't help you either." The egg conjured two matchstick arms out of thin air, crossed them, and glared at her.
"Whatever. Once I kill all the children of destiny in this world, we'll see who dies first—you or me." Tang Li smiled triumphantly as she looked at it.
Angry, the egg charged right at Tang Li's head, determined to perish together.
Quick as lightning, Tang Li pinned it down under her weight and unleashed a frantic rant: "My name is Tang Li, twenty-one years old, a medical student from the twenty-third century. My home is in Yuncheng, and I currently study at Yuncheng University. I have three older siblings at home: my eldest brother Tang Yang, my second sister Tang Chun, and my third sister Tang Bai!"
"I submitted my graduation thesis last week, and old Gao said that barring any accidents, I'll graduate. My second sister said she'd take me traveling abroad as soon as vacation started! Now all of this has been ruined by you! If you don't send me back, then we'll just die together!"
The previously soft and fair egg turned pitch-black from static electricity in the blink of an eye.
"No... you... how could there... be... el... lec..." The egg grew dizzy from the shock, rolling backward weakly a few times.
Tang Li didn't answer it, because she had also passed out from the high-voltage shock.
When the person and the egg finally woke up, that absurd day had already passed.
