Chapter 1

On the carved wooden bed, the young man suddenly opened his eyes!
"I still didn't manage to die?"
The young man rubbed his still-dizzy head, unable to keep from marveling.
Just as he raised his hand, a flood of memories not his own rushed into his mind like a tidal wave, causing him to let out a low gasp of pain!
The servant on guard outside heard the commotion and hurried in to check. Seeing that his young master had woken up, the servant cried out in astonishment!
"Young master! Young master, you're finally awake! This servant will go right this second and fetch the estate physician to take a look at you!"
With that, he dashed out the door without stopping. The young man lying on the bed took quite a while to digest the information in his mind.
"I've transmigrated into a book!" he muttered to himself.
Combining the memories in his mind, he could confirm that this was precisely the novel he had been reading in the car!
*The Prime Minister's Precious Darling!*
Yet she was just an ordinary, hardworking office worker—why had she transmigrated into the book as Jing Luo, the unprincipled good-for-nothing?
At the time, she had even mused to herself that this cannon-fodder character actually shared her name. But having grown up in an orphanage where Mother Director had found her with a jade plaque engraved with the character for Jing, she had been given the name Jing Luoluo.
Who could have known that on her very first company team-building trip, while reading a novel out of boredom on the tour bus, she would be struck in the head by a boulder that crashed through the window, killing her on the spot?
However, none of that was the main point. Judging by the memories, Jing Luo, the good-for-nothing in the book, was a thoroughly genuine male!
Could it be that this Jing Luo was actually a woman disguised as a man?
Unable to help herself, she lifted the covers, closed her eyes, and tugged open the cumbersome undergarments she wore. The moment she cautiously cracked her eyes open, her gaze widened in shock!
"This, this, this, this!"
Though Jing Luoluo had never eaten pork in her past life, she had certainly seen pigs running.
Yet seeing it with her own eyes for the first time was still an immense shock, especially since it was now growing on her own body!
"Young master! Where are you hurt?!!"
The servant, rushing in with the estate physician, was greeted by the sight of his young master sitting up in bed with a look of sheer terror on his face.
He rushed to the bedside in two strides.
"Well... look at that, you're not hurt after all."
The moment the servant charged over, Jing Luoluo hurriedly pulled up her trousers.
Her pale, sickly face flushed with shame and anger.
"What are you looking at? So rash and clumsy, get out of here right now!"
Even though this body wasn't hers, being seen completely bare was still terribly embarrassing and infuriating.
According to the memories in her mind, this Jing Luo in the book was thirteen years old and the sole legitimate son of the Duke's Estate.
His father, Lord Duke Jing Renyi, had originally been nothing more than a country farmer. Later, when the imperial court was conscripting soldiers, he relied on a reckless, fearless drive to save Emperor Hengwu—who was then the crown prince. Having achieved military merits, he only married and had children at an advanced age.
Later on, due to the unstable political situation at court, his biological mother was assassinated while traveling out. From then on, the old Lord Duke never remarried, devoting himself entirely to protecting his only son!
Remembering past ties, the reigning emperor frequently summoned the original owner to the palace. Since the original owner was adept at flattering and acting cute, he was deeply favored by His Majesty and the consorts.
This indirectly fostered the original owner's profligate temperament. Fortunately, the original owner was only thirteen now and had not committed any principle-based errors that would bring down a death sentence!
The book did not contain many descriptions of the original owner, who was, after all, merely a cannon-fodder stepping stone for the male protagonist.
She remembered that the male protagonist passed the imperial examinations as the top scholar, but because of his exceptionally handsome appearance, he was hand-picked as the third-place *tanhualang*.
As for the original owner, he was an unbridled troublemaker who actually lost control of himself after drinking at a palace banquet and attempted to lay a hand on the male protagonist. As a result, he was secretly plotted against by the male protagonist and ultimately stirred up a monstrous disaster!
In the end, the male protagonist became the crown prince's trusted aide, assisting him in seizing the throne, while he himself ascended to the position of chief chancellor, enjoying a smooth and rapid career!
At this thought, Jing Luoluo shivered all over. In the book, her original persona died a most gruesome death, and even the old Lord Duke who cherished him was implicated, resulting in the execution of their entire clan!
Since she had transmigrated into this body, wouldn't she be able to cling to life and save her skin as long as she didn't provoke the male protagonist?
"Young master! Why is your body shaking? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"
The servant asked with concern, and the estate physician waiting nearby hurriedly stepped forward, wanting to take the young master's pulse.
Jing Luoluo lay back down, guided by their strength, letting the estate physician examine her. The book didn't seem to mention the original owner experiencing any of this, did it?
The estate physician closed his eyes to take her pulse, and after a moment, he opened them and slowly said, "The wound on the young master's head should be of no major consequence. Just prescribe a few doses of medicine for him to drink, and rest carefully!"
With a chaotic jumble of thoughts, Jing Luoluo on the bed just wanted some peace and quiet, so she casually waved the two men away.
She was an unmarried maiden who had transmigrated into a man—was there anything more absurd than this?
Then, a second thought struck her: didn't everyone who transmigrated get some kind of golden finger? Perhaps she had one too?
She couldn't help chanting silently in her heart: "System? Dimensional space? What is my mission?"
After shouting for quite a while, no one answered. Jing Luoluo had no choice but to close her eyes and accept her fate; perhaps after a nap, she might just return to her original world!
The door behind her was abruptly flung open, startling the person who had been sitting with closed eyes in deep thought, making her raise her head to look outside. What was wrong with these ancient people? They were always jumping out of their skins.
The newcomer was none other than Lord Duke, who had received the servant's report.
Jing Renyi strode in with tiger-like steps and bellowed, "Luor, you're awake? Has the physician checked you? How are you feeling now? Tsk, your head isn't well yet, quickly get back in bed and lie down."
Jing Luoluo stared at the old Lord Duke in a daze. As expected of someone from a military background, his imposing aura was thoroughly oppressive. Fearing that she would reveal a flaw, Jing Luoluo didn't dare meet his eyes at all.
She nodded timidly and was helped back onto the bed by the old Lord Duke. Seeing that his son remained silent for a long time and only stared at him with occasional curiosity, the old Lord Duke slapped his own thigh!
"This is bad! The child has most likely been struck stupid by that rock! Someone come here! Quickly grab a calling card and head into the palace to summon an imperial physician!"
At this moment, the old Lord Duke's eye rims were slightly red as he stroked his son's forehead. Seeing herself misunderstood, Jing Luoluo had no choice but to speak up: "Dad! I'm fine, it's just that I just woke up and my head is still a bit dizzy!"
Hearing this, the servant standing outside trembled and asked, "Milord, should we still go summon an imperial physician?"
The old Lord Duke glared: "Summon them! Go right now, and have the imperial physician come take a look so I can finally rest easy!"
Seeing that she couldn't prevail against him, Jing Luoluo said no more. The original owner's body now housed a different soul, so she had better speak as little as possible!
The old Lord Duke carefully observed the wound on his son's head and couldn't help asking, "Luor, how on earth did you end up by the rockery all by yourself that day? It must have been done deliberately by someone, right?"
Mentioning this, Jing Luoluo pondered in her mind, recalling that a few days prior, the original owner's grandmother had taken the whole family up the mountain to burn incense and worship Buddha.
This grandmother of the original owner had raised two sons in total, with the father being the eldest in the family. Originally, the whole family had merely been country farmers.
Never had they expected that her father would be sent off by the family to join the army, rising to power overnight to become a great general who shared life and death with the current emperor. Once the imperial rewards were bestowed, the entire family followed closely behind to live in the Capital.
Only, the original owner's grandmother had never liked this eldest son, openly and secretly favoring the younger son's family at every turn!
