However, for the next several days in a row, Luoyun Huan did not see Qin Yiqiu. Well, that made sense—after all, the other person was the sole favored sprout of the Yunjian Mountain Sect, heavily nurtured by the sect. How could someone like her, a mere mortal, expect to see Qin Yiqiu just whenever she pleased? "Host, if you don't pick up the pace, the punishment is coming your way soon~" The System's infuriating voice rang in her ear, and Luoyun Huan rolled her eyes. "All you ever do is pile pressure on me." "If you've got the ability, give me a hint. Who fights a boss right out of the gate? Everyone else levels up slowly and gets a set of divine gear before they go take on a boss." As an outer disciple, life wasn't actually all that leisurely on a regular basis; she still had to take care of various duties for the sect, though most of the filthy and exhausting chores were left to the chore disciples. Therefore, Luoyun Huan only needed to handle tasks like sweeping the stone steps and weeding the medicinal herb fields. Barely enough to exchange for a few Spirit Stones. Because her aptitude was far too poor, Luoyun Huan couldn't muster any enthusiasm for cultivation, so she had always wanted to ask if the System had anything that could improve her Spiritual Root. "Well... considering that you, the Host, are a beginner, it is indeed appropriate to give some reasonable hints." After hesitating for a moment, the System decided it shouldn't be too harsh on a beginner. Consequently, a map appeared before Luoyun Huan's eyes once more, with a red dot marked upon it. "What is this?" Luoyun Huan clicked on the red dot and found the map enlarging. "The location of your target for conquest." Luoyun Huan raised an eyebrow. "I never expected you to actually be somewhat useful, Little System." Luoyun Huan understood in her heart that even if she went to see Qin Yiqiu, the two of them wouldn't have anything to talk about, so... Luoyun Huan clenched her teeth, a sharp and cunning glint flashing in her eyes. She knew that because the original owner had a reclusive personality, she was often bullied by others. Thinking along those lines, she only needed to stake out those bullies, time it right, and ensure the Eldest Senior Sister was nearby as well. Then she could arrange for the Eldest Senior Sister to play the hero saving the damsel! Why was her little brain just so brilliantly clever?Because of her good looks, Luoyun Huan had a good number of suitors on her university campus, but she didn't care for any of them. Perhaps it was because her parents had kept her under very strict control back in high school.
Even after entering university, she never quite shook off that lingering atmosphere of being forbidden to like anyone, so she simply kept hard at work on her studies and steered clear of romance.
Her only outlet for venting her emotions was reading manga, novels, and watching TV dramas and movies.
And yet, she managed to fall into a pit over this one and only hobby.
She had been chosen by a damned System.
Since she was determined to pursue her targets and wanted to live a little longer, she needed to put her plans into action. Luoyun Huan spent another full day investigating where the outer disciples who frequently bullied the original owner usually did their chores.
After studying the Eldest Senior Sister's usual walking routes, she finally found two points where their paths nearly intersected. The Eldest Senior Sister might not be particularly close by, but as long as she cried out miserably enough, the other woman would surely be drawn over.
"Fine, let's do it."
Luoyun Huan settled on the idea in her heart.
A breeze swept through the bamboo grove, stirring up a continuous rustling sound. Moss covered the stone steps, and a few outer disciples were poking at the moss with bamboo brooms, scraping it off and sweeping it into piles.
Although they could use spiritual power to control their brooms or weave a small spell to do the cleaning, doing so would waste their spiritual energy. Spiritual power ought to be reserved for nighttime cultivation, so the sweeping still had to be done by hand.
"I'm exhausted. Why don't we go find someone to take our place?"
One of them threw his broom aside.
"Isn't that Luoyun Huan fellow quite obedient? Let's just call her over."
Another narrowed his eyes, thinking of Luoyun Huan, whom they bullied every day.
She never expected these people to target her directly. Hiding in the dark and eavesdropping, Luoyun Huan felt her heart skip a beat.It seemed her idea was quite a good one. Not only could she avenge the original owner, but she could also permanently solve the problem of these potential sect bullies.
The System prompted that the target for conquest was getting closer and closer. Luoyun Huan mustered her courage. This was the last day; if she still could not secure even a sliver of conquest points, she would have a full three years of her lifespan deducted.
That would simply be terrible!
Therefore, she took the initiative to step out from the shadows, holding a bundle of clothes in her arms. These were damaged sect uniforms belonging to inner disciples, which were handed over to outer disciples to be mended and then returned one by one to the inner disciples' courtyards.
Luoyun Huan had actually brought the clothes over quite early; she was just lying in wait for the three of them at this exact moment.
Holding the clothes, the tip of her nose caught a faint scent of green pine. After being mended, the outer robes of the inner disciples were fumigated with a layer of fragrance, which smelled quite pleasant.
Luoyun Huan thought to herself silently that one day she, too, would manage to become an inner disciple!
She had only taken a few steps when she was blocked by someone holding a broom. The person wore outer disciple attire washed until it was faded, and their eyes held smugness and schadenfreude.
"I never expected you to walk right into our trap!"
"Wonderful! These nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine steps are all yours to sweep now!"
Three brooms were thrown at her feet. Luoyun Huan raised her head, her eyes flashing with a fierce and ruthless intent. The three of them were startled, yet still unwilling to believe that this fellow, who usually suffered humiliation, possessed the ability to fight back.
"What, do you think you're something special now!"
"Do you know the consequences of refusing to do it!"
Luoyun Huan remained silent. Light, breezy words slipped past her cherry-pink lips. The original owner might have feared these people, but she certainly did not.
"Step aside. I still have to deliver clothes to the senior brothers and senior sisters. If these clothes get stained, it is a responsibility none of you can bear."
Luoyun Huan could not help thinking to herself: *Hah, little do you know! I've read no shortage of palace intrigue novels; dealing with a few small-fry villains like you is a piece of cake.*
However, her primary goal was still to provoke these few.
"Oh? Haven't seen you in a few days and you've grown some backbone, haven't you?"
"Don't think that just because the Eldest Senior Sister saved you once, you can rely on her to save you forever. Let me tell you, someone like her doesn't even walk on the steps."
Qin Yiqiu rarely even used a flying sword; most of the time, she traveled by riding the wind.
She always maintained an air as pure as a gentle breeze and a bright moon, keeping everyone at a distance.
People said she was very likely the successor to the next sect master, which made even fewer people dare to disturb or offend her.
The man stepped closer, and Luoyun Huan's wrist was gripped tightly, the bones feeling as though they were about to crack. Her body trembled, and even her heart felt as if it were tightly bound by a fishing net.
This was the original owner's body feeling afraid.
"The Yunjian Mountain Sect is an upright and righteous sect. What you are doing violates the sect rules..."
Luoyun Huan was still arguing on strong grounds, but in her heart, she was quietly calculating the timing. Watching the red dot draw closer and closer, the corners of her mouth could not help curling up.
Accompanying the curling of her mouth was a sharp pain across her face.
"Wings got stiff, have they? Why didn't you have this kind of guts before?"
The man finished speaking and reached out to strike her again. However, a bamboo leaf brushed past the back of his hand, and blood like a gushing stream dripped onto the green moss.
"What are you doing?"
Qin Yiqiu's voice was icy cold. She stood atop the bamboo tree, her deep blue long skirt fluttering in the wind like a dancing blue butterfly.
Behind her stood more than a dozen Law Enforcement Hall disciples holding swords, every single one of them exuding a fierce and menacing aura.
In their hands, they were dragging a few disheveled men and women—evidently just returning from cracking down on vice.
