Lin Zezu led Fugui along at a dawdling pace for about an hour. Fugui remained confused, feeling that his young master had been acting strangely all day, but he dared not speak out of turn.
Finally, the two arrived at the home of Lin Shimao. The front gate was left slightly ajar, making it difficult to discern the layout of the house, though it was clear the courtyard occupied a considerable plot of land. Fugui reached out to knock on the door, but Lin Zezu stopped him. Lin Zezu stepped up onto the threshold himself and rapped the door knocker.
"Second Uncle, it’s Zezu. I’m out for a morning stroll through the village."
