The official proclamation promised that all recovered silver would be used to compensate the victims and creditors who had suffered abuse and fraud at the hands of the Fang family in an equitable manner.
The notice also explicitly listed one exception: the Huainan Bookstore.
The reason given was that the bookstore's debt case had already been accepted by the official yamen prior to the downfall of the Fang family. For the sake of fairness and justice, the yamen was now valuing the Huainan Bookstore at eight thousand taels and transferring ownership directly to the Qiantang Prefecture bookseller Qian Haiqing to settle the case once and for all, with no further discussion permitted.
